Pros
Fowey is great - quaint winding streets, plenty of shops, good restaurants and pubs to cater for every taste, and a secluded beach at the end of the Esplanade.
Owner and local representative both friendly and responsive to requests
Literally just a two minute walk to Fowey centre
Private, partially secluded outside deck space
Cons
If you arrive late afternoon it can be hard to find vital supplies. Most holiday lets provide some kind of welcome pack, but here there was none (not even any toilet roll in the loo!). Also no hairdryer but we brought our own anyway as some aren't powerful enough.
The staircase is steep and with narrow treads that are smaller than an adult male foot. There’s no handrail at the top - when I had to get up in the night for our dog, I ended up sliding all the way down and badly grazed my hip. That could have ended up a lot worse but I was in discomfort which impacted our holiday. I had to visit my Dr on our return for a large bursa that came up on my hip.
The outside deck would be a lot more attractive if it had been weeded … as it is, it’s not a particularly welcoming space, no padded cushions for the metal seats.
The church is around 200ft away and the church clock chimes every hour through the night. The bedroom is small and quite warm and stuffy (even though it wasn’t hot weather during our stay) so we needed to have the window open all night and the bell woke us most times, despite using earplugs. A white noise phone app helped a bit
