I booked this cabin for a surprise B day gathering for my wife and she loved the place. There were 4 couples that stayed comfortably and other family that came on Saturday for the get together. The place was very nice and the owner was great. Will look to book again in the future.
The cabin is huge and lovely. Plenty of space for gathering both inside and out. Lots of fire wood. The kitchen was stocked as youâd expect from a short term rental. The beds are comfortable and the bathrooms are super nice. The property is really cool and a lot of fun to explore. The hot tub had a strong chemical smell, the host advised us to add water and leave the lid off to air out, it was fine after that but required some work on our part which was a little annoying. There were a TON of stink bugs. We swept up probably 100 dead ones when we got there and they were flying around and climbing the walls the whole time we were there. The host said they have an exterminator coming regularly, but Iâd say theyâre losing the battle. Overall we loved it and will return. Despite the bugs, itâs a great place to stay!
The log cabin worked well for our family Christmas vacation. It had a large dining room and large family room that accommodated family meals and board games respectively. The trails on the property were an added bonus enjoyed by the young and older family members. Since the cabin is surrounded by woods, we did see some stink bugs in the cabin. The host was very responsive to an issue we had with water pressure. We were very appreciative that the host set up a beautiful Christmas tree for us. We hope to return.
We stayed here with a group of friends (5 couples + 1 toddler) and there was plenty of space! The house is very large which is nice with so many people. The surrounding trails were beautiful and fun to explore. The property is beautiful. There is even a little playground for kiddos. The sauna was great and we all enjoyed using it. The host sent a video on how to operate it, which was very helpful.
The check in process was okay - I read the reviews that mentioned the host hadnât provided them with the entry codes and they had to wait for them. On our day of check in, I hadnât heard from the host or received any check in information (even by the check in time of 4 pm), so I reached out 1 hour before we arrived and we got them just in time. The listing mentions bugs will be in the home as it is in the woods, but there are ALOT of bugs. There were dead bugs in the rooms when we arrived and tons of stink bugs and flies throughout the home. We were only provided with one trash bag for 2 nights and 11 people. Each bathroom had less than a full roll of TP with no new rolls available if we ran out. When I reached out to the host, it took hours for him to respond and he had no solution to the problem other than for us to go purchase more. So if these items can be remedied, I think it would be a great space and we might return. We did enjoy our stay, these things just made it a little bumpy. We didnât expect that we needed to bring trash bags and TP for a two night stay.
Nice property, could be cleaner and managed better
We stayed at this cabin for my birthday. The location is stunning and secluded, and we loved the spaciousness and overall vibe. Basic amenities like the showers, TVs, and kitchen were great, especially for a remote cabin.
However, we had issues with the sauna, which we couldn't get working despite following tutorials and contacting the host. The hot tub also had a green tint and displayed a "replace filter soon" message, making us uncomfortable using it.
The host was responsive via text but not helpful and refused to come out since he lived two hours away. After our stay, VRBO refunded us, but the host went back on his promise of a partial refund and dismissed our concerns.
While the location was fantastic, the problems with the sauna, hot tub, and poor customer service made it hard to fully enjoy. Iâm giving it 2 stars, though it could have been 5 with better attention to these issues.
Our daughter had a soccer tournament nearby and it was the perfect place for us to stay for the weekend. We stayed with another soccer family and it was very clean and had plenty of space and rooms for everyone. Owners were extremely flexibly with check in and out times given our soccer game schedule. It was the perfect place to spend time and relax in between games and a much better alternative to a cramped hotel room.
We had very minor issues and owners were able to help us navigate in real time. We did run out of trash bags and toilet paper so I would recommend that any larger groups plan accordingly to bring their own.
We booked this cabin because my brother was getting married in Newark, it was the perfect cabin so everyone could be together to celebrate the wedding. All the rooms were perfect with very nice well equipped bathrooms. Kitchen was amazing, we had the rehearsal dinner there and everyone had spaceâŠabsolutely loved it. The only thing is the hot tub was more of a soaking tub, there was one jet and it didnât make it all bubbly, but after a night of dancing, the water felt good on your feet! The kids loved itâŠthere was a baby so it was nice there was only one room on the bottom floor for privacy. Thank you so much
The positives:
- We canât say enough about how lovely the grounds are, they are worth the stay alone especially if you like exploring
- House is lovely & big enough for a large family & for everyone to have their own space. The kitchen, dining & living areas are great
- Furnishings are new, high quality & tastefully done. Itâs clear Paul has pride in the home.
The rental is new so Paul is still ironing out some kinks, they included:
- Checkin was stressful as we were greeted by a locked gate & no code for it. Luckily, there was a work crew who was able to let us in after 30 min of waiting. We didnât hear back from Paul for a couple hours, having the gate code as part of the checkin instructions is essential
- Upstairs air conditioning wall units were not cooling due to an electrical issue. We had a hot weekend so this made it very uncomfortable upstairs, some of us had to sleep downstairs on sofas
- The hot tub was also impacted by the same electrical issue
- We tried to get the sauna to work as per the instructions but like the prior review we couldnât. Paul could, not sure how
Despite multiple texts with the owner to communicate these issues over our stay, responses were not always timely & he couldnât address our issues. It took some convincing & for him to visit post our stay to acknowledge the issues were real & electrical was the culprit. Paul is working on a partial refund for us and weâd definitely stay again if these issues are resolved & this stay is made right
My girlfriends and I booked this cabin for a weekend to gather for some R&R and good cackling. The property matches exactly what is listed, potentially even better, and we greatly enjoyed our time such that we hope to return again next year.
The cabin was clean and well stocked with high quality linens and necessities (including lots of firewood). The property was quiet and secluded with lots of interesting things to look at. The plunge hot tub worked well but we could never figure out how to get the sauna going, (despite great instructional videos sent by the host). Our favorite spot was to gather on the front deck around the fire pit or under the pergola and listen to the surrounded nature sounds.
