The house hadn’t been cleaned & the photos online had to be over 10 years old. There was only window a/c units, it was musty & moldy smelling. The toilet was OFF and sitting across the bathroom
.with nasty, dirty towels all over.Outside was beautiful & just like the pics - except the deck which wasn’t in great shape.We did not stay here. The management company put us in a nicer, newer house but it didn’t have a pool, firepit, and was not on the water.

We stayed Monday through Thursday with friends and had a wonderful time. The canal location was perfect. The parents fished in the backyard while the kids swam in the pool. It was peaceful, quiet, and just a one minute drive to the beach.The house was clean and comfortable, with a little normal wear and tear. The listing photos made it look slightly nicer than in person, but everything was still in good shape and we enjoyed our stay. The pool was the highlight for the kids, and a sunshade would make it even better for midday swims.The downstairs area has its own kitchen and beds, which was great for extra space, though it stayed a bit warm. The host was kind, responsive, and easy to work with.Overall, it was a great setup for families. We would definitely come back for another relaxing getaway.

Outside pool and water views were excellent. Inside was needing repairs, had several window air conditioners with very dirty filters instead of HVAC, had to go outside to access lower level, and we swept up bugs inside and out constantly. The lower level smelled like sewer, and we determined that the mowers had covered the venting system with heavy grass due to mowing right after a rain. We cleared it away, and the issue improved. Overall we had a memorable stay and enjoyed Galveston history and the warm Gulf waters and views. It was challenging accessing the VRBO site, however Beach Box representatives were very helpful and accommodating.

The house was perfect for our families with kids. So much to do with it being on the canal, having a pool, and arcade games. Beach access is super close. All the kitchen necessities are provided and plenty of them. We had 7 adults and 6 kids and we had more than enough room for everyone.

These pictures are deceptive, truly out dated. The home needed a lot of TLC and cleaning. We contacted the owner because the stove top was cracked and wanted to know if it was safe to use, also if they had any fans to help circulate the air They claimed there has been no report of it being broken and they would have maintenance out to check it along with two box fans. CRICKETS! Never heard of them or maintenance again

Great time with family but some disappointments with space

There were roaches in pantry and cabinets (we bought spray to kill), the down stairs area smelled like mold and in fact we saw several “damp rid” units in there. The shower downstairs, had mold/mildew and had not been cleaned very well. The outdoor shower didn’t work at all. Appeared handle was missing.

Traveled with 6 adults, 2 children. First off upon arrival, the rental was not clean, floor and bathroom was not clean, and trash outside was overflowing and had an awful smell, and a lot of flies. The downstairs had a mildew smell so we decided we would not stay down there, would only use for the bathroom and washer and dryer. Notified the owner, and received a quick response—was told they could have someone come out and do a spot clean. We decided to clean it ourselves rather than have someone come in when we were already unpacked. Please note this is 2 totally separate areas connected by outside stairs—the top has 2 bedrooms, a bunk room, bathroom and open concept living and kitchen. The downstairs, about 500 sq feet has kitchen, living, bedroom, laundry which is all open concept and the second bathroom. The rental has plenty of beds, enough for at least 15 people, but the dining table only has 5 chairs and the bar has 4 bar stools. The outside was wonderful, the pool was great, and fishing off the dock was so much fun. There is a firepit with 4 comfy chairs. There are no lounge chairs by the pool, but there is a nice edge to sit on. The pool is 3-4 foot deep which was great for the kiddos. There is an upstairs deck that is large and has a great view, but the railing is not safe for young children and one of the boards was broken. Also one of the chairs was broken and taped together—sent pics to owner. Great location. Beach access directly across the street

The property was a great place for a large group. There was always something to do for adults and kids, we stayed busy from fishing, to the pool and ending the night with s’mores. There were a few small things that could have been fixed but all and all a really great place to stay! And the property was clean. Just a note for those who like boating and fishing. If you are planning on bringing a boat, access to the property can be tricky so be sure to check when the tides are going out. Also the property’s pier lights are disconnected along with the boat lift. We made it all work but It was a definitely learn as you go while navigating coming in from the bay. We able to catch a variety of fish from the pier and this made the kids happy!

Great time

Our overall stay was wonderful. The communication with the property owner was spectacular! We had two littles (1.5 & 3) that loved having a pool to swim. My husband, brother & dad enjoyed crabbing and fishing from the boat dock all hours.

Wonderful!

We really enjoyed our stay! This place was perfect for all 12 of us. The pool was a huge hit! The kids loved swimming and did it most of the time. We loved being able to fish off the boat dock. Most of all we loved the top deck, sitting outside at night watching the fish go to the green light in the water acrtogether watching the fish go to the green light

Unsafe and Inexcusable

This rental was a complete disaster and dangerously unsafe. From the moment we arrived, it was clear this property should not be listed. There were multiple exposed wires with active current, a broken breaker box, and damaged light fixtures still live with electricity. The upper deck rail was unsecured, and none of the lights on the dock worked — a major issue since we had planned to fish with our young children.We voiced our concerns immediately, and an electrician was eventually sent out. He confirmed what we already knew — it was not safe to stay here. We were told to leave the property at 11 pm with our two crying children and had to scramble to find a last-minute place to sleep.The host responded rudely and defensively instead of addressing serious safety hazards. No family, especially with young children, should ever have to go through this.Avoid this listing at all costs. It’s unsafe, poorly maintained, and the management is unprofessional. Wish we had been warned — hopefully this review helps someone else.

There is literally nothing you will have to worry about on your stay here. The home is fully equipped with all of your basic needs. You just need to pack your clothes, along with our bathing suits, food and drinks.

This home is a nice home, the only thing I would have to say is the pictures online should be updated since the floor upstairs is coming up, like the individual panel, which could be a fall risk since my sandal got caught in between the two lifting panels and I almost fell. Also would NOT recommend the house if you have small children, toddlers, since the railing on the top deck is not safe due to not having any panels on the bottom so small child could easy fall through. House was very roomy and has everything you need.

Great stay for spring break week

We (mom, dad, kids 15, 13 & 12) enjoyed our stay at the bay bay blue house. The outdoor space is great- pool area is obviously very new so it’s in great condition. We did request they add some pool lounge chairs because we wanted to lay in the sun but they only provided Adirondack chairs which are ok but not great to lay by the pool. We also used the indoor towels since no specific pool towels were provided.The deck overlooking the canal was very nice. Neighbors have dogs who barked constantly if you were out there which was annoying. One neighbor on the street also let their dog wander off leash so it was in the front yard a few times.The grills were left super dirty by previous guests so we changed plans and didn’t use them.The house could use some more large sautĂ© pans- esp for even a family of 5 we only had 1 large sautĂ© pan which was annoying. I couldn’t imagine trying to feed 18 people with the pans provided. Dishes and utensils and cups were plentiful though.The main bathroom upstairs bath fan was crazy loud and the room always seemed humid so I don’t think the fan does anything. We did bring this to the managers attention so maybe it will get fixed. The dryer also took a long time to dry so we Mentioned that maybe the vent needs to be cleaned out.The kids enjoyed the separate downstairs space to play the video games in or watch tv. It’s nice to have a bathroom so close to the pool area but it does feel very separate from the rest of the house.

Bed bugs, bleeding, itchy rashes

My family was excited for our stay at Galveston but everything that could have gone wrong went wrong. First off, the property does not match the pictures listed online. Right when we walked in we were hit with a pungent sewer smell, it followed you everywhere form the driveway to inside the house. But we tried to stay positive and just ignore it and enjoy our vacation. Then multiple people were bleeding from stepping on cracks and splinters from the floor board. Even after sweeping Ang mopping the house we still discovered pieces of broken glass and wood. Then my mother got rashes all over her body from laying on the sofa and bed. At this point, we were packing our bags and whoever could fit in the van just slept outside because everybody was beyond disgusted and getting itchy rashes. Not to mention, we were traveling with an infant and didn’t even want to bring him anywhere near the bed or sofa.I typically don’t write reviews but the owners definitely need to fix these issues before letting other people stay here, this was beyond terrible and ruined our trip.
