We have stayed here multiple times and loved it. This was the first time since an ownership change. While we missed some of the previous amenities and extra touches, we were shocked when we checked out and were told there was a mandatory 18% gratuity on not only food and beverage, but on the already high price of the room. In all my travels I have never had to pay a gratuity on a room charge. We stayed 2 nights and declined cleaning so never even utilized any service related to the room. We were told "we are a tipless property". But a mandatory gratutiy is just that, a tip. And not a discretionary one. As much as we love the grounds and the area, we would not stay there again with the current mandatory gratuity on the room cost.
