That was a cute and special place!!! Alan was a gentleman!!!
The animals are very freindly and we can enjoy all the place!
I wish to stay longuer next time
Large property with many friendly animals. Hosts work with Humane Society and Habitat for Humanity and very accessible to talk to. House is in great shape and had everything advertised
Staying at JJ's Hana Hale was a highlight of our trip to Maui. We decided to do a weekend on the Hana Road, and instead of driving back to our resort on the other side of the island, we stayed with the Jahns' Saturday night. They had all of the important amenities - shower, kitchen, comfortable bed, air conditioning, and a few others that were extremely nice bonuses. The only reason I wouldn't recommend this property is if you are allergic to or don't like animals. You share the yard with the farm animals and that just added to the ambiance for us. Fresh eggs for breakfast were a nice touch as well! This felt like the REAL island life. Not the resorts and the beaches, but this place - quiet, friendly, on a clear night you can see the milky way. A truly magical place to stay. And for those looking at the pictures, the goat house is not the VRBO rental!!
What pure delight to stay here. The animals are incredible and their caretakers are humans doing good work them to live a good life here. The accommodations are as advertised with anything you could need. Thank you for the goat walks and a great stay!
From the moment we arrived we knew this would be special. The hosts are such great people, and they have amazing animals. We arrived at night after a long day to Hana, we got to pet horses in the middle of the night under the stars, couldnât ask for anything else. Its prime location allowed us to hit Black Rock, Red sand Beach, Venus Pools, and 7 Sacred Pools⊠and the hidden gem at.mile 21.5, trust me stop on your way home, we had a privater waterfall to ourselves.
Pleasant accommodations on the quiet East end. Convenient to metropolitan Hana, the black sand beach state park and a visit to the final resting spot of Col. Charles Lindbergh
Sharon and Alan the hosts of this wonderful property are very welcoming. They not only have a wonderful private cottage in their property for rent but they also run an amazing animal sanctuary. Cows, horses, bull, chickens, ducks, an even a wild boar to name a few of the animals here. If you arenât afraid of an adventure outside of the congestive and chaotic city please come visit this property filled with nature and fresh air. Youâll be waking up to the sound of roosters and eating some freshly laid eggs.
Magical little spot, making you feel a 1000 miles from civilization in a good way. We spent every night just chatting and watching the animals. Alan and Sharon are the nicest people. The bed is quite comfortable. Totally worth staying a few days in the Hana area to really explore and get to see the place. Would recommend 100% but would advise getting groceries on the other side of the island beforehand if you plan to eat in.
We selected this property because of the description of a rescue farm for animals. We were not disappointed. Junior Boy, the bull, just stood outside our door, gazing in at us!
But more than the animals, Sharon was a wonderful host. She gave a welcomed recommendation for dinner. And the next morning, as we were driving out in less than optimal weather (an inch of rain the night before), she told us to come back if the road was impassable; âYour room is already rented for the night, but we have a spare bedroom in the house.â Wow, thatâs hospitality!
We had such a great experience at JJs Hana Hale!! Sharon and Alan were such gracious hosts. They were so kind and welcoming, giving us a tour of their farm and their sweet animals upon our arrival. They even allowed us to help them feed the horses and cows and hang out with the goats! We felt very comfortable staying on their property - it was peaceful, private, and clean. And spending time with the animals was an amazing bonus!! This was a highlight for us during our stay in Maui. Would recommend staying at Sharon and Alan's place to anyone looking to spend some time in Hana. Mahalo for a great stay!!
The JJ's Hana Hale Farm House was a good, rural experience. The accommodations are in a separate house on the same property as the owners. Our stay was comfortable, and it was a joy to get up in the morning to help feed the animals with Sharon. It was great to have a place to stay after the drive to Hana and then to get an early jump on the crowds to hike the bamboo forest trail.
This is a rural setting with many farm animals on the property. The accommodations were very simple but adequate with everything available that we needed. With all the animals on the property, this will probably not fit with everyone but we loved it.
The Farmhouse was everything expected and more! The previous reviews donât do it justice. The place is adorable and Sharon and Alan are gracious and welcoming. The animals however, stole the show! Lucy, the dog is absolutely precious! She greeted us at the car made us feel right at home. The 5:00 Goat Walk with Alan was a true highlight. In the morning, we woke to a beautiful sunrise and the sounds of the farm coming to life. The goats Pocket, Pea Knuckle and more hanging out in their âPaGoataâ house was just too adorable. It was so relaxing getting to spend time with the horses, watching the chickens, roosters, ducks, egrets, playing with Lucy and Buster, it was a truly memorable experience.
This was such a wonderful place to visit! Everything was perfect and the animals were just lovely. Loved the linens on the bed â could have slept all day. Thanks for this beautiful experience!
Amazing charming farmhouse about 10 minutes drive from Hana. Very clean and nicely furnished. Had everything you could need. Fresh farm eggs was a nice touch! Cute farm animals and very welcoming host.
Sharon and Alan are excellent hosts, and it's so fun and relaxed at the farm. All the animals are so pleasant and friendly, and the goats are a hoot. Our kids were in hog heaven...literally....with a lovely pig named Lincoln! Great place to see several gorgeous sites from on the east side of the island.
Stayed at this lovely spot and it greatly exceeded our expectations!! Such a secluded and stunning location. The animals were so sweet to see, Lucy was our favorite!! Such a nice staycation and change of pace. We will absolutely be backđș
Unique and enjoyable. We had a wonderful time relaxing and getting a chance to feed the animals. We even took a walk with the goats.! Alan and Sharon are wonderful hosts.
The guesthouse situated in a portion of the property was quaint and well appointed. The unit was spacious and contained a full kitchen. We throughly enjoyed the fresh eggs left by the host. The linens were of great quality which really added to our comfort and made us feel at home. Observing and interacting with some of animals on the property was an amazing experience. We took morning and afternoon walks enjoying unique foliage and architectural style of the neighborhood. The hosts (Alan and Sharon) showed us lots of Aloha and really impressed upon us the spirit of community.
Great location, cute, comfortable, spacious-feeling cottage with lots of windows & light that was perfect for my teenage son & I. We loved having the animals on the property around the cottage, and Sharon, the host was great.
