We stayed a month this summer (2024) at Bankside Cottage to really get immersed in the Yorkshire Dales lifestyle. The cool climate was a perfect summer relief from our home in hot and humid Florida. The village of Hampsthwaite was the perfect distance outside of busy Harrogate. Very peaceful with friendly and helpful locals, a good pub, cafe and convenience store. Ten minutes into Harrogate and we had all the major grocery chains to choose from. As well as numerous great restaurants. There were also great pubs and inns tucked away in surrounding villages within 10-15 minutes drive. Just 45 minutes into York. In 2 hours drive we were in Liverpool, the Lake District or towns along the NorthSea coast. Numerous great scenic attractions and walks close by such as Brimham Rocks, Fountain Abbey and Bolton Abbey.
The cottage itself was perfect for our family of three. Hosts Joanne and Nick were friendly and very attentive to our needs offering periodic cleaning which we usually kept up with ourselves. WiFi worked great and cable TV allowed us to catch the opening ceremonies of the Olympics in Paris. Washer/dryer combo unit allowed us to keep up with our laundry needs. Kitchen was well stocked with utensils, dishes and cookware. We highly recommend this cottage and village to others and would definitely return.
Clean, spacious, comfortable, well situated, quiet. Couldnât fault a thing. Check in was easy, house was tidy & welcoming, parking no problem. Amenities nearby &a very responsive host. Highly recommend.
We really enjoyed our stay. The place is clean and quiet. Beds are comfortable. It was quick and easy to reach out for help. Garden could do with a bit of TLC, butâŠwe didnât spend much time there.
Would come again.
This property has it all, extremely comfortable beds, cosy decor, a log burner, fantastic location and even a stream out the back of garden. We loved our stay and will definitely be back!
Beautiful cottage absolutely immaculately clean! Opposite a lovely pub! No noise but great food and a cafe deli that had we been there in April onwards had a lovely garden where they do wood fired pizza evenings. Lots to see and do round about! Very highly recommend by us - and frankly Iâm very hard to please!
