Hilltop walkers paradise with a view, sleeps 10

Kilnhanger is quirky house located at the top of Marley Heights in Kingsley Green outside Haslemere. Set in the clouds at the top of the hill this is a vantage point where you can really get away from it all. An ideal walker's paradise set over three floors, enjoy the views from the balcony overlooking woodland, the South Downs and Cowdray Park. Set on three floors, surrounded by nature this is a spacious house that is well located for Goodwood and Cowdray Park Polo Club. Sleeps 10 comfortably.

The space
Marley Heights is a hill of houses located in Kingsley Green and Kilnhanger is at the top of the hill. A short drive to shopping and local facilities in Fernhurst, Wey Hill, Haslemere, Petworth and Midhust.

Set on three floors Kilnhanger is a spacious house with accommodation for 10 people as follows:

Ground floor:
1 x king size bedroom
Separate bathroom with bath and aqua lisa shower

First floor:
2 x king size bedrooms (one is a master)
Separate bathroom with large bath and hand held shower

Lower ground floor:
Annex or family room (NB: low ceilings)
4 x single beds - 2 x 3ft and 2 x 2.6ft
Bathroom with half bath and shower

The annex or family room also has a small sitting room with TV, a small bathroom with half bath and shower, and a kitchen utility room. The kitchen / utility downstairs has a washing machine, cooker and kettle. There is access from two doors to the outside areas, large garden and patio located under the upstairs balcony.

The ground floor has a king size bedroom and separate bathroom for those that do not want to climb the stairs. The kitchen and sitting room are located on this floor and both have patio doors that lead to the balcony. The balcony is the width of the house and overlooks the gardens, woodlands and South Downs.

The well equipped kitchen has an electric aga (there is a small cooker in the downstairs kitchen utility in addition to this). There is a full compliment of cooking equipment, serving dishes, cutlery, plates and glasses. There is an extending table that seats 10 people. The leaves are stored inside the table so it is easy to extend or compact. There are 6 chairs around the table as well as additional chairs on the balcony and around the house for larger groups. These will be in the kitchen according to group booking size. There is a dishwasher, fridge freezer, microwave, coffee machine, toaster and kettle.

The sitting room has 2 x three seater and 1 x two seater sofa so there is plenty of seating. The fireplace is not in use. There is a 50" smart TV in this room and plenty of side lighting. Leading out onto the balcony there are two sets of sliding doors.

The balcony is a great vantage point for reading, relaxing, eating and socialising. Overlooking the garden there is plenty of room for children and dogs to play. Please note that whilst the front of the house and gates can be shut off to the drive, the garden is not fully dog proof and dogs will be able to get into the neighbouring field and woodland unattended. It is a large space with plenty of freedom to explore. We welcome dogs with open arms.

Upstairs on the first floor is the master bedroom and a second king size room that share a marble bathroom. This has a large soaking bath and hand held shower. All the bedrooms have chairs or sofas for relaxing and there is wifi throughout the house.

We welcome you to our house in the clouds where the views from the inside out will make your stay unique.
Guest access
Guests are able to access all areas except for a couple of cupboards.

Dated, tired. Disappointing

The location is stunning and in its glory days the property would have been too.Sadly, the decor is tired, the aga has been removed leaving a mess of missing plaster, tiles and brickwork that show it was ripped out and nothing done to the wall behind. The kitchen needs replacing and looks grubby and dirty even when you clean it. Chipped mugs, flaking baking trays and miniature dinner plates make self catering a bit miserable. The cellar/downstairs accommodation is damp, the bedding is damp and the smell isn’t pleasant. The ground floor bathroom is old and unfortunately has a silverfish infestation which makes it feel grim.Upstairs the bathroom is more modern but the shower doesn’t work. The hot water manages 1 bath per half day so not adequate for a larger family who expect hot water on demand and no way to wash your hair upstairs. The house has an eclectic charm but in reality it needs a complete overhaul to be fit for purpose. The first house we have rented that we left early and wouldn’t return to
