We were pleased with the atmosphere and the decor, impressed, actually, with the "homey" touches in the decor. Loved the giant plants! And the breakfast was delicious every time.
My only complaint was the low quality of the toilet tissue. Otherwise, everything was great!
Was not happy about the up charge for a downstairs room

Polite and helpful staff. It’s really showing its age in the rooms. The furniture fell apart, it could use fresh paint and caulking. Take out the old carpet and upgrade the rooms. The parking lot could use repaving. The beds were cozy.

Not many people, rooms need to be updated badly. Thunderstorms…windows and door leaked water all over. Staff were friendly and breakfast was good.
Family owned and family friendly motel. Multiple types of rooms and price points. Have stayed at least 5 times in 3 years. Each room has a different design. Comfortable beds and fridge and microwave. Fantastic breakfast with man6 choices including biscuits and gravy and fresh eggs plus the usual food. Nice pool in back. Lots of room to park.

Stay in Russel, not Hays
Actual home cooked breakfast options vs cereal, day old bagels and unripe fruit. There was homemade cinnamon rolls, breakfast scramble with fresh eggs, ham, bacon and sausage with cheese. Homemade biscuits and gravy, waffles and fresh orange juice. The rates are very fair and rooms were nice.

I was in Russell for the Wicked Wilson gravel race. I needed a room for just one night and this satisfied my needs. It's an older facility as was expected. The staff was very friendly. If you're in need of a more updated facility this probably isn't for you. But for my needs it was fine. The one thing I wish I would have done was to bring my own pillow. I didn't have the breakfast but I heard from fellow riders who did that it was good. Overall I enjoyed my time in Russell. If I ride next year I will be back.
Very nice people. Very old and run down place. Good air conditioners.

It was a nice, clean place to stay. The one difficulty was the key. It didn't open the door easily. Also, there weren't many plug-in to recharge our phones. Everything else was good!
Would stay there again, stayed in the Motel section for a week. Made up the room each day.

The room was comfortable and the staff was friendly. However, it was somewhat out of date and could have used some updates. The breakfast was awesome and we will probably stay there again
Excellent place especially for the price. Far better than average hotel breakfast

Decided to stay in Russell to avoid traffic and noise. The lodge was easy to get to and worked well for my needs. The rooms are comfortable with thoughtful touches that set the stay apart from other hotels. I’d stay again!

Great Value!
This hotel is a great value for the money. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Great staff and breakfast! The thing that I was most mostly disappointed with was the door in the room. NOT very secure!
This hotel was a pleasant surprise in so many ways. Vicky at the desk changed our room, twice! With a smile on her face. The first was upstairs and my spouse just had knee surgery, no elevator. Then I wanted a non-road facing room. No problem. The rooms are adorable and each one decorated a little differently (from my stroll while housekeeping was cleaning rooms) . The housekeeper does an amazing job. The hot breakfast rates top notch and I can compare to Marriotts and a few other local establishments. The coffee is GOOD, as oppose to good enough. They keep complimentary fresh water, tea, all day. There is a rec room with a pool table and fuse ball table, just ask for the balls. It had plenty of sitting and good sound control as we did utilize the room and had family visit there while we were in town. I look forward to returning when the pool is open in the meantime the ground are well kept and nice to take a stroll or jog around. The downtown bar and grill (family friendly) has local raised ribeye and filets only the second Saturday of each month. If you are lucky enough to be in town make that 4 minute drive downtown and do that! The owner grills each personally and it was ah-maze-ing!! The menu items are also all top par. Small town friendly, small town budget friendly, I cannot wait to go back. I have family there but the antique place, accommodations and Wauby’s would be enough to bring me back for a fun & reasonable road trip.
They had many brands of TV's in their rooms making it difficult to find anything on TV. Even the clerk had a hard time to figure it out. I would rate the experience with the TV about 3 out of 10. The staff were very kind.
When we got there and looked at the room the first one look like it was never vacuumed, had black stuff on the bed and had dead bugs on the floor. The second one they put us in was not vacuumed very good. The third room they put us in had bugs splattered on the walls and had air coming in around the window. I tried to tell the manager about the window and all she did was give me attitude because she said the window was new. I had co workers on the other side of the building and they had trouble with air coming in around the door. Don’t waste your money on this place the building is in bad shape.
