Came with our kids and friends. Our oldest was on leave from the military and we just wanted a chill place and we got it. We did come in the immediate aftermath of Beryl and many roads were flooded/washed out. The locals were so helpful in pointing out off the grid roads to help us get there. The kitchen was well stocked and had everything we needed. The downstairs was a bit on the damp side but we've camped in way worse. We just threw the kids down there...with a extra fan..They made a club house out of the entire thing. Come well supplied because the closet store is 23 miles away..but if you're experienced at planning meals it shouldn't be a problem. The lake itself is gorgeous, and lots of water items included.
The setting is lovely and the hosts are very accommodating. I will say to be careful when trying to swim off the shore. The mud is very deep and hard to get out of. I would recommend getting in and out of the water by using the dock and not trying to walk in and out. Kayaking was beautiful and there are plenty of them to use. Cottage has a renovated garage that serves as a very large and roomy sleeping area. It does get a bit damp and musty but we opened the windows and it was fine. Upstairs is very nice with lots of space and plenty of things stocked for your cooking needs. There is an alcove upstairs with a queen bed but it's not a separate bedroom. Again the hosts were terrific and it is a beautiful setting and very remote
We loved our stay on the lake! I didnât know it was a loft or that it wasnât actually 2 bedrooms. There was a bed in the living room, and beds down in the âbasementâ which was actually a garage. It got extremely hot downstairs, we couldnât figure out the humidifier but other than that we had a blast! The paddle boards, peddle boat and kayaks were so fun, my kids had sooo much fun exploring the lake. Everything was well stocked in the house, it was super clean and Ashley was wonderful to communicate with! Thank you!
We had a good time, the lake and surrounding area is beautiful. The loft upstairs is nice the garage area was damp and musty needs an air conditioner. After heavy rain water came in in one corner by the washer and dryer.
We enjoyed spending time at Trout Lake at the Loft! The bay area was perfect for kayaking and stand up paddle boards. We loved the bonfire with view of the lake. Beautiful location!
I wish I had more time to stay. The camp was awesome, it has everything for a great get away. It was quiet and peacefull, very comfortable. The owners were very responsive with communication and made every effort to meet our needs. 10 out of 10. I can't recomend this place enough.
We took a long weekend to so my granddaughter could visit her other grandparents in the area. The home is very well stocked in the kitchen and bathrooms. We wanted for nothing! We wished it was summer to take advantage of the lake amenities. We will definitely visit again.
This was the perfect space for our low key 13th birthday sleepover. My teens loved the space, it was beautiful and Ashley was more than easy to communicate with and was so accommodating!
We needed a place to stay near Gouverneur, NY while visiting a property we had purchased. We are glad we chose The Loft. Ashley, the host, thought of little details that made our stay feel more special. The candy from a local store, lifesaver mints, chilled mugs, and stocked paper products were just a few items that were appreciated. She also left a letter letting us know where we could buy items nearby. We found a Price
Chopper in Gouverneur that was nice.
Everything was super clean and nicely decorated. We had views of the lake and beautiful fall colors, but most of the time it was cold and rainy. Maybe next time we will enjoy the lake, but my husband did kayak on the only nice day.
The queen bed upstairs had a memory foam topper of some sort that was very comfortable. My two boys slept downstairs and even had their own bathroom which was nice. There was plenty of sleeping downstairs.
We had a few questions while there that were answered promptly. She even sent someone out to help us work the heater. The heaters work rather well by the way and heated each floor quickly. The electricity went off one night in the neighborhood but didn't affect us because of a generator that comes on in power outages. That saved the evening because we were getting ready to cook dinner. I wouldn't hesitate to stay at The Loft again. Ashley has done a great job of hosting this cottage on Trout Lake. We really appreciate her great service and attention to detail.
My friends and I had a great stay at this home! It's right on a beautiful lake and is perfect for a weekend away with a group. Ashley was also very responsive and even left some popcorn from a local shop for us! I would definitely recommend this home to anyone looking for some time in nature :)
