Our stay at the lakehouse was fantastic! The view of the lake, especially at sunset was nothing short of stunning. Getting out on the lake was a breeze by kayak, paddleboard, or canoe. The kitchen was well stocked with cooking implements and the hosts are great about letting you know what to expect. The beds were plentiful and quite comfortable. Our hosts were excellent communicators and made our stay a breeze. 10/10 would stay again!

Our family enjoyed a lovely stay! Communication with Laura was very responsive, informative and helpful. Eliminating any stress of unanswered questions. Making our trip a breeze. The house is cozy and inviting. Offering up a just like home feel. We took advantage of the beautiful evenings and enjoyed dinner on the back patio and fires in the fire pit. The sunsets were stunning. As a family we really enjoy nightly walks which we did while on vaca and were greeted by very kind neighbors. We traveled as a family of 10. The house is large, open and airy. Plenty of space to sleep our family comfortably. The sitting room and living room over look the lake, perfect views. Our nieces really enjoyed the upstairs “family” room with the bunk beds. It is wonderful to have in home access to a washer and dryer. Boating was a blast, the perfect option on the warmer days. If you are looking for a cozy place to venture with beautiful sunsets in a welcoming neighborhood. We highly recommend! And would absolutely stay again!

Our family enjoyed our stay, house is perfect with number of bedrooms and bathrooms. Kitchen is rather small with no counter space but we utilized the black stone to cook a lot of our meals. Rented the pontoon so spent a lot of time out on the lake. Had great weather so that was a plus. We hope to stay again next year.

Clean, easy to walk due to level yards. Nice shade with lots of game and swim accessories (canoe and kayaks. Super nice pontoon with a lily pad for kids to play on. Owners responded promptly and politely to our questions and needs. Very nice people to deal with. The kitchen is nice and fully loaded, with TVs all over the place. Wi-Fi is also good. Pricey but worth it.

My five children and their spouses and I enjoyed our stay in this home. It accommodated us very well. we enjoyed the closeness of the lake from the house and the very nice pontoon boat.There was room for all of us to sit together and eat or play games outside as well as inside. Fantastic destination on the labk

My kids and grandkids had an awesome time. The home is beautiful, very clean, and large enough to accommodate 11 of us. The teenagers enjoyed the upstairs hangout space when they weren't on the lily pad, using the kayaks and paddleboard or fishing. The evening bonfire and smores were a great way to end a spectacular day with the entire family.

Great Stay, Well Worth It

Beaytiful property inside and out. Cabin has new wood floors and everything is roomy and comfortable. Fishing was very good, had a fry with bluegill, bass and pike fillets.Used the pontoon for 3 days, highly recommended and the Lily Pad made it a lot of fun. Water was a little cool but this was early June, kids had a great timing wading and swimming and loved the loft in the house. Two grills (Weber and Blackstone) made it easy outdoor cooking and the ability to have a fire outside made great Smores. Overall, another great stay, our 2nd time around. Laura was an excellent host, very responsive to all our questions and texts.

Fantasy location for a quiet Christmas Getaway

It was perfect. We utilized every room in the house. Everyone got their own sleeping space and we had enough room for gift opening, game playing, cookie baking, relaxing by the fireplace and enjoying the sunset views. We even got some ice fishing in and got plenty of keepers. We would definitely stay again and recommend it to anyone. Laura was a pleasure to work with.

Friends weekend

This is a great place. We had one hiccup, which was minor, a smoke detector battery started chirping...which was taken care of within 30 minutes or less of us asking what WE could do. Excellent service. Will be back. Great location for all of us. Fishing off of the dock was even great. Will be back if it works out. Thank you!!!

Look No Further!

Just feet from the lake, the wildlife and sunsets do not disappoint. We enjoyed exploring Platte and Sullivan lakes in the luxury pontoon. We watched the eagles in the morning with breakfast on the patio, and listened to the Loons in the evenings around the fire. You'll want for nothing here. The generous layout of the home and well ammended bedrooms, means you have the room and comfort to truly relax. The host was gracious and quick to communicate which made our stay easy, and stress-free. Look no further, Whether you're a large group or small, this home and it's location will impress. Already planning our next trip back.

Cozy and fun

Our family had a great time at the Hillman House. The house was very cozy, plenty of comfy beds and just enough room to have everyone around the dining room table! It was fun to fish right off the end of the dock. Nice supply of safety gear, fun outside toys and lake was very smooth to take the pontoon for a spin. Beautiful view of the lake. Owners were awesome to work with and very kind when we had questions. Would definitely consider renting this place again!!

Family memories

Our 3 generations of family, ages 12-74, just returned to Hillman Hideaway for another 4 nights. Last summer was supposed to be a once in a lifetime vacation here for all of us together. Then last Christmas, our kids and grandkids all decided to come back. We did. I learned to paddle board at 69 yrs old. We canoed and kayaked. The kids jumped on and off of the Lilly pad both from the pontoon or running off of the dock and jumping on to it in the rain. We all played cards together at the picnic tables or on rainy days at that huge dining room table that held all 14 of us! Most of our cooking was done on the blackstone or the campfire, but the kitchen works, too. We caught fish from the pontoon and in the evening the kids could catch fish from the dock or a kayak. We sat around the fire using the wood the hosts provided and watched glorious sunsets over the lake. We relaxed in hammocks listening to loons calling as eagles soared and swooped to catch fish. The cabin has plenty of room to spread out. The shed fridge was much appreciated, as well as the life jackets, fishing poles, and lots of water toys. Laura was great to work with, answering any questions promptly. Jeremy too, wanting to make sure the pontoon was working for us. We’re glad we rented the pontoon. It’s beautiful. Thank you for this slice of paradise!

Perfect family getaway

We stayed here for a family gathering with my siblings and kids. There was plenty of space to spread out, the kids loved the upstairs bonus room. The beds were very comfortable for sleeping, and with multiple seating areas, we all found places to congregate. We rented the pontoon boat, and enjoyed every minute of our time on the lake. When questions came up, the owners were very quick to respond and very helpful. I highly recommend this home for group gatherings!

Family get away.

We had a great time. The property is just as described and as it shows in the pictures. Very clean, organized, and nice areas to spread out in. Laura was very helpful before check in telling us what we might want to bring and giving us other tips. Laura and Jeremy were also super at talking us through a few issues with the boat, and very timely at it as well. The grandkids loved the lily pad, and all the other water toys. They would have spent the entire time jumping off the dock or lily pad if they could have. Very quiet and relaxing. Thanks for a great time. Hopefully we will be able to return again sometime.

Best Stay We Have Had

Our family has been doing summer get togethers for around 10 years at various VRBOs in Wisconsin and Minnesota, and this was the best one yet. The combination of being comfortable, quiet and relaxing, along with great fishing and a very responsive host makes this a place we will be returning to.

Family Fun

Great location! We enjoyed beautiful weather, sunsets and a quiet lake. There was lots of opportunity to enjoy the water, do some tubing and relax. Close enough to town where we were able to go grab a bite to eat or enjoy the local area zoo. Laura is easy to work with and communicates often. Fantastic Stay at Hillman Hideaway

We had a great stay at Hillman Hideaway. We had 5 adults and 9 kids ages 5-13. The place is excellent with plenty of space. The three separate family room areas left plenty of room for the kids to be upstairs playing games and hanging out while the parents were relaxing. We rented the pontoon as well and the kids loved floating out in the lake and swimming with the lily pad. Laura was outstanding and easy to work with. We did a lot of fishing with our boat as well and the fishing was good to excellent. Overall a great experience. The grandkids have already asked if we could go back again next year

A Perfect Vacation!

This property was so perfect for us! The 5 bedrooms downstairs meant that all of the adults, plus the 15-yr. old, had privacy. The other 5 grands, ages 8-13, slept and hung out in the wonderful large space upstairs. They loved it! We spent most of the mornings relaxing on the two patios with tables, while the kids played. We rented the pontoon for 3 days. Each afternoon, we loaded it up with the Lily Pad and headed out for deeper water to swim and play. It happened to be a very hot week, which was perfect. Bonfires every night. Except for one golfing outing, we never left the property. We did all of our cooking there, and just enjoyed being together. I would definitely book this property again!
