What a beautiful house to share with my ohana. House was big enough for multiple generations to stay and feel comfortable. My 75 yr old momâs favorite start of the day was walking around the yard, watching the sunrise and then using the fresh fruit as part of our breakfast. For the younger generations, it was close enough to walk to downtown and go to the shops, down town concert, and farmers market. Loved our stay.
Beautiful property very close to Hilo Town. We loved exploring the variety of fruit trees on the property and watching wild life from the lanai. Our friends and family said it was a trip to remember.
The house is really cool in a beautiful location. The kids loved running around the trees and lawn looking for geckos and fruit. We really enjoyed our stay.
Spacious house full of character, built in 1926, located in a great area. Perfect for a large family. Lovely garden and fully equipped kitchen for home cooking. Please keep in mind that the house is from 1926, so it has some age-related features. I would recommend replacing the stovetop, as the old-style burners no longer fit properly into place, which can be inconvenient when cooking. However, there is a great new oven in the house, and we used it regularly.
Overall we were pretty happy with the property. Check in was smooth. The layout of the bedrooms is a little weird. The bedroom with the two twin beds requires you to have to walk through another bedroom to get to the bathroom. Nothing we couldn't get over. The kitchen sick had a leak coming from the inside the cabinet, but they got someone out pretty quick to take a look at it. The house is old and has a lot of charm. We loved the screened in porch. It was a great way to start the day. Would definitely stay here again.
We, a family of 8 (6 adults, two teens) loved the location from which it was easy to walk downtown. This house was built in 1926 and some things could use a little TLC. Around some of the handles on the kitchen cabinets it appeared dirty, There was peeling paint on the cabinet in the middle bath. In addition the hot water faucet at the sink in that same bathroom was nonfunctioning. Because of bugs in a damp climate guests are requested to seal all wet compost in a ziplock bag and store in the freezer, but no ziplocks were provided. For a group our size it would have been nice to have a large fry pan.
A few hiccups but the commincation was good and we got things resolved. Beautiful plantation house and grounds. Very private and lots of room for a family of 7.
Very relaxing! Close to town. But feels like your living the Hawaiian life in the country! Loved pickings and enjoying fresh fruit. House was clean. love loved the architecture of the authentic Hawaiian home! Some updates needed in master bath and kitchen. But overall we really enjoyed our stay! Thanks
Great property with lots of space. The screened porch was the most used space. Lots of fruit trees on the property. Only a short distance to downtown with lots of shops and restaurant options.
This house worked perfectly for our extended family vacation. The huge kitchen was great for many cooks working together and the grill and outdoor seating area was a valuable addition which we enjoyed immensely. We would stay here again. Sunrise and coffee on the lanai was a special quiet time for my husband and me before the rest of the crew got up. We loved this spot.
We left property second night in. Checked in to hotel. No A/C ! Impossible to sleep. Termites on bed, mattress saggy, condemned label on window. Stunning physically, needs restoration.
Terrible experience.
We really enjoyed our stay in the beautiful home. The kitchen and view were sensing and extremely well equipped with everything we could need. So much attention to detail to make a comfortable stay.
It was a lovely house to spend nearly 2 weeks in. We thoroughly enjoyed staying here. We picked lots of fruit from the property, lounged on the lanai, and had fun watching the planes and geckos eating insects. The large yard was very nice to have young children use up some energy.
The proximity to the downtown and beaches, while still being 'out of town,' was excellent.
We just wrapped up our wedding and wanted a few quiet days with family to unwind from all the festivities. This house was unique, large enough for our family of 5 adults & 2 kids, great views and a bit quirky/historical in All the best ways.
My only critique is that while there are lots of eating tables in different areas, there isnât one big enough for everyone to sit at if you have a group bigger than 4.
I canât say enough about the amazing plantation house! Our daughter and her family joined us for part of our stay. We spent evenings in the large screened in porch, enjoying the skies and all the fun night sounds. Even the frogsđ loved the little black and white cat that visited us daily! The location was ideal for us as well. Able to drive to the volcano park easily. And along to coast to Waimea
We would definitely recommend My Hilo House!
We loved staying at this lovely vacation home. It was clean, comfortable and cozy! So much Hilo charm. Huge space, especially loved the wrap around screened-in porch. We hope to return in the future.
A very spacious plantation house with character and charm. Well-equipped kitchen with lots of prep space. Little bit of noise from traffic on the road, but otherwise lovely and quiet. Pleasant outdoor lanai to enjoy the lush gardens.
Minor suggestions: the grill could use a clean and some paintwork needs to be done in the kitchen and bathrooms.
Overall, a great place to stay on the outskirts of Hilo with a view of the harbor.
My Hilo Home was everything and more than we expected. It truly was our home away from home.Minutes from downtown Hilo but seemed miles away -peaceful,quiet and the grounds are lovely. We picked oranges and passionfruit from the yard.Fabulous place!
