If you want a sleek modern hotel, this is NOT the place for you. (Not all the rooms have en suite bathrooms, for instance.) It is like an old fashioned neighbor hood tavern: rooms are charming and furnished with vintage pieces and colors. Restaurant is good, and clearly popular with the neighbor hood. Staff is charming, helpful, and friendly.
HIghly recommended.
Most of all, I felt welcomed by the staff. They were great to get food recommendations and very helpful with any other queries I had.
Definitely highly recommend it. Also who doesnât love a pub with great food, drink and atmosphere
Very pleased with my stay which cheered me up during my cloudy, rainy 4 day stay in Hobart. The bed although a bunk bed was large and comfortable. The attached balcony with table was an added bonus. The shared toilets and shower stalls were always clean. The restaurant below was surprisingly good I had the house special flank steak. Despite the pub being on the ground floor, no patron or restaurant sounds wafted to the room above. Since there is a door between the restaurant and the rooms above it shuts out the noise. It is an old building over 150 years old which adds to the appeal. The location was good not far from the harbor ie 1.2 kms or so, closer to a number of restaurants in and around a mall. It is only two blocks from the old city gaol which is a major aspect of Hobarts early history. It is also close to another restaurant, shopping district in the opposite direction to the harbor with a small Woolworths across the street. In passing I sincerely hope the cleaning lady gets her long awaited holiday from her husband.
