Woolacombe also offers a charming selection of fish and chip takeaways, cafes and shops. Another sun-soaked spot to visit is the pretty Victorian town of Ilfracombe (4 miles) where a bustling harbour offers day trips to the magical Lundy Island in the Bristol Channel.
