Small Unit on the North Shore Not for a Family of 4!

Pros:Unit is at the entrance to the gated community - ground level. Parking spot is directly in front of unit. Community has pool, basketball court (no ball), tennis and pickleball courts with pickleball equipment. Kitchen was well equipped. They provided paper towel roll, toilet paper, 1 garbage bag, dish soap and sponge, laundry detergent, shampoo, conditioner, hand soap, beach chairs, pool noodles 2 stand up fans and a queen size air mattress (thankfully).Cons:Roaches. Several of them. No true bed for our 14 & 16 year olds! This unit is for 2 adults & maybe 2 small children. There is one queen size bed in the main bedroom. That bedroom has an AC unit & a ceiling fan. The living room has a big couch, but it is not a pullout couch. What they have as the two additional bands are these random futon looking chairs. They do not even convert to a standard twin bed. They are hard as a rock. My boys had to sleep on the queen size air mattress, and the couch. There is an AC unit in the living room that made it nice and cold though.The unit itself is small. We felt cramped. The bathroom is tiny. And the washer and dryer are located right outside of the master bedroom. You can hear everything from inside the master bedroom.When we arrived after a 16 hour travel day, we did not have the correct gate code to enter the community. This was very frustrating because they kept telling us that it was emailed to us when it was in fact, not emailed to us. It took an hour to resolve.

Not the Best Experience

I did not receive a code to get into the gate for the community prior to arrival. Another guest helped us get in, but I was immediately met by security when I parked and had to spend about 15 minutes getting everything straightened out with him. I had to reach out three separate times to the rental management company to finally get a gate code that worked. The door lock instructions I received were incorrect. I was given a 10-digit code for a lock that only used 4 digits. Luckily I was able to get that code much easier than the gate code. The second day of our stay I received a notice from the property that my car was in violation for not having a parking pass displayed, and towing was threatened. Nowhere in the check-in instructions did it mention a parking pass, and there was not a pass available in the unit. Somebody eventually brought us a pass on our last day. I will say the representatives I spoke with were very communicative, but it was an awful lot of headache for a 3-night stay. The condo itself was fine, and the adjacent resort is beautiful, but all the hassle really put a damper on my trip. I’d suggest looking elsewhere.

Overall place is great for location. But the check in was awful. Dryer didn’t work so that was a problem when washing clothes. I was t able to lock the door the whole time. Last day we found cockroaches.

Turtle bay condo

The property and condo are both nice . I have stayed at turtle bay multiple times . For the price this unit is a bargain. If you are in a ground level unit and you have noisy people above you , you can hear everything as the units obviously have no insulation. This unit does not have a porch , so no place to hang up wet gear at the end of a day at the beach. My main complaint with my initial arrival was with Vrbo. They did not get me the correct gate code for almost 2 hours after my initial check in , despite being only 30 minuets early and being on the phone for 15 minuets while sitting at the gate trying the incorrect codes the guy was giving me over the phone. Same w the front door. Vrbo NEVER put me in contact with anyone on site , it was either txt or email, I had to ask for the combination to get through the pool gate as well . 3 simple combinations would have made my arrival much better .if I owned this property I would find a company who wold make sure renters had a smooth and simple check in, not a stressful one.

Too many add on fees

This is not a complaint about the property but rather the ridiculous amount of add on fees from VRBO. Even owners I talked to agree, it’s gotten out of hand. It drives a budget priced stay up way too high.

Basically enjoyed our stay... we come to Turtle Bay every year for a family reunion. This is the first time we haven't been satisfied with the unit. Many lightbulbs were burned out. The sliding screen door kept falling off. Bottom of kitchen trash can badly mildewed. Bedspread old and frayed. Beach chairs really rusted. Property managers responded promptly to lightbulb situation.... we didn't say anything about the rest. Also, no info on pool code or what we should do on checkout.

Great location

We love the north shore and this is a great location to access the area. Turtle Bay beaches are beautiful and walking distance. The pools for the condos are ok (small and no hot tub) and Turtle Bay will not allow you to use their pool. You can however utilize the resort restaurants. Our one complaint was that the front door is so heavily spring-loaded that it is a legit safety hazard for little kids.

The property was nice although outdated. We found some trash under the bed from previous renters and the dishwasher was leaking when we ran it the first and last time. The location was convenient for us to visit most of the north shore so we didn’t mind staying there. It was close to the pool and golf course which made for great viewing pleasures. They had beach towels and chairs which we used at the nearby turtle beach. It’s a very spacious unit and worked well for our group of 3 adults and 1 child. I would’ve liked more updated linens and furniture, especially the pull out futons which we’re torn up and squeaky

Very Nice Property/Clean Unit

We very much enjoyed the surrounding property; the grounds were well kept. The unit was clean and had every amenity of a home; although, as expected, the ottoman sleepers were terribly uncomfortable. The living room AC leaked and filled up the tub under the unit quickly and flooded that area of the floor the first night because it was not emptied before arrival, so we had some cleaning up to do. The sliding glass door in the living was off the track and the slider screen was out leaning against the door; however, it was an easy fix, so I just fixed that myself.

Good stay.

Was at turtle bay for a weekend conference. Good place right down the road from the resort. Easy walk to the beach. Turnkeys whole deal is pretty annoying with too many emails about every little thing like reminding to charge their table and about some loud noise their sensor apparently heard.

Priced Right!

Very nice. Great location. Clean. There is only 1 bedroom. The bed was comfortable! That doesn't happen often in Hawaii. The 2 roll away beds for the kids were horrible, unless you add another pad, mattress. Some instructions on various things would have been nice. The internet didn't work the first 24 hours, the dish washer was broken (but never mentioned to me). The pantry door was also broken. I didn't really care, because we were outside most of the time. I did want them to know, because the next guest may not be so nice. Most of all I was just happy to be somewhere in the sun. Loved that it had a functioning washer/dryer. That was a bonus. Kitchen came in handy, because COVID you are limited on where you can eat. Lei Lei's was amazing!! I would stay again. Just keep to yourselves and as long as you don't run into the manager or staff, your stay will be nice. Don't forget the parking pass as well or you will be towed.

Awesome stay on the North Shore!

My husband and I loved this property. The apartment was clean, quiet, and comfortable. We appreciated coming to this apartment each evening after a day of exploring Oahu. The apartment is centrally located in the coast. We would highly recommend this apartment to anyone! And, we hope to return back to it ourselves.
