A comfortable, modern holiday home with magnificent views across Kaiuma Bay and out to Pelorus Sound - perfect for small groups or two families seeking a peaceful getaway in an idyllic location.
Situated in picturesque Kaiuma Bay, the property can be reached by road or by boat/water taxi from Havelock to the Kaiuma Bay jetty. Despite its tranquil setting, it is only a scenic 30-minute drive to Havelock (mostly unsealed) where you can find cafes, restaurants, pubs, and a convenient Four Square supermarket.
The home is well suited to two families. The master bedroom features an ensuite and views across the bay in two directions. A second queen bedroom with views sits beside the family bathroom and separate WC. Two additional bedrooms provide single and bunk beds. The indoor dining table seats 6-7, with 4 bar stool seats at the kitchen island, while the outside dining table comfortably seats 8. Two separate living areas provide flexibility: a quiet sitting area for conversation, and a cosy TV snug.
The property is nestled beside a small stream and native bush - home to local bird life including curious weka. Guests can enjoy a large covered and uncovered deck, an outdoor shower, three single kayaks and one child kayak, plus plenty of parking. A spacious reserve behind the property offers room to kick a ball or throw a frizbee.
(Please note: the stream only flows after rain and is often dry in Summer, but families with young children should be aware that there may be a stream, the property is not fenced, and the reserve land behind the property provides direct access to the bay.)
Guests are welcome to bring their own boat to explore the stunning Pelorus and Kenepuru Sounds. The drive is a little steep, but there is a large flat parking and turning area.
Within walking distance of the property, you will find the start of the Nydia Track, along with other bush or waterfront trails for walking or mountain biking. The jetty and boat ramp are just a 15-20min walk (or 1-2 min drive) for boat or kayak launching, jumping off for a swim, or trying your luck with a rod. At high tide, kayaks can also be launched from the reserve behind the property. Nearby streams and swimming holes offer a refreshing dip on warmer days.
For a change of pace, the famous Marlborough vineyards centred around Renwick and Blenheim are only 50-60 minutes away, while the vibrant city of Nelson is about 1.5 hours drive.
CONDITIONS:
1. Cleaning bond - Due to its rural location, our home is rented on a clean before you leave basis. We visit our property regularly but are not close enough to provide a cleaning service. Guests are requested to leave the property clean and tidy for those staying afterwards, otherwise we would need to withhold a bond to organise a remote cleaning service for our next guests.
2. Rubbish - As there is no public rubbish collection at Kaiuma Bay, rubbish and recycling must be taken with you when you leave.
3. Linen - Bed linen and towels are freely available for guests, but condition of use is that they are washed and dried before you leave. Alternatively, you are welcome to bring your own, or use a mixture of your own and ours. Guests should bring their own beach towels.
*Please note that as this is a new property, landscaping is not fully established.*
