Stay in a beautifully restored traditional Portuguese townhouse just 350m from Lagos centre. Tucked away in a quiet spot, this character-filled home features original wooden floors, wrought-iron beds, vintage photos, and plenty of natural light. An orange tree outside the lounge window adds a lovely touch of Algarve charm.

Relax on the private ivy-covered patio with traditional calçada flooring. Inside,on the ground floor, you’ll find a quirky (not modern) kitchen, cosy lounge with plasma TV, Portuguese cable
Wi-Fi, a breakfast room, and a bathroom with shower and WC.

House with character in old town

A spacious light older house with a patio in a great location on the edge of the old town. A few details could be improved- the shower head needs fixing, corkscrew was broken and patio furniture needs cleaning. We enjoyed our stay and it was surprisingly peaceful and quiet.

Beautiful house in great location

We really enjoyed our stay at Casa das Andorinhas, the house is delightful, loved the decor throughout and it had everything we needed. Felt like we were locals! It is also in a great location, near to the marina, old town and the beautiful beaches. You can walk to all of the amenities. We didn’t have a car but caught the bus to Porto de Mos and Sagres which were both really nice days out. The train station is also very near and we got the train back to Faro for our flight. A taxi is needed at the other end to the airport. Only negative was the hot nights and quite a lot of noise at nights but that wouldn’t stop me staying here again, loved it!

A Vida Portuguesa

We fell head over heels in love with this absolutely quaint and authentic Portuguese villa. Unlike so many vaccination rentals, this one feels like a family home that people love and return to year after year.

Cute Portuguese House

We have spent 5 days at this charming & bright house. It is a bit tired but has loads of charm and everything you need for a few days’ stay. The decor is quirk and comfortable. Plenty of hot water and a functional kitchen. Location is very handy, really close to downtown and seafront, and you can walk to a few supermarkets, including Pingo Doce & Lidl. Easy free parking nearby is a huge bonus. It’s on a busy road, so you do hear some traffic and people talking on the streets, but it didn’t bother us. The agents were very reachable and helpful, and the place was spotlessly clean. I would definitely return, and recommend to friends.

Lovely apartment in great location

The apartment is lovely and accommodated 2 couples very well. However, if planning to stay here be aware the apartment lacks basic necessities such as toilet paper, paper towels, dish detergent, garbage bags, etc. These items were always stocked in homes or apartments we have rented in the past. Also, it would be beneficial to have basic instructions left for guests on how to work the stove, TV, etc.

Enjoyed our stay in this house.Very centrally situated only a few minutes walk uphill to the centre. An old property basically furnished . Bedrooms small but conformable beds.no A/C. Nice outside space and used the BBQ a couple of times. It would have.been handy to have some cleaning materials washing liquid, cloth etc. Only thing I didn't like was the damp smell when you entered the house although the rooms didn't seem damp.

A fine holiday home

We arrived early and were pleased to be able to move in straight away, as the cleaner was just finishing. The location is really good, about 100 m back from the marina and about a 10 minute walk from the centre. We hired a car and were lucky enough to be able to park outside the house every day, being in a quiet side street. We liked the high ceilings in all rooms as it helped to keep the house a little cooler. The bedrooms did get rather warm at night, but leaving windows open gave a cooling through- flow of air. The courtyard also gave us a place to cool down, especially at meal times. The sun shone mid-morning until late afternoon for sun worshippers. The b-b-cue was a nice addition. We thought the kitchen was adequately stocked with pots and pans etc. We were rather disappointed with the quantity of cutlery and crockery ( 4 or 5 knives, forks, 6 tea spoons and similar numbers of plates etc and glassware and no mugs ,for a property catering for 4 people ), yet boasted a dishwasher! The sitting room was a great place to relax, cool and plenty of seating to watch TV or read. The bathroom was very large and the shower worked really well, with ample supply of hot water all the time. Bed linen and towels were changed half way through our stay, although the towels were on the small side. A thoroughly enjoyable stay

Quaint and very clean.

The house is lovely, spotlessly clean, and ideally located in a quiet area with close access to the city centre and beach. It is quite large and possibly the most charming home I've ever stayed in. It's flooded with natural light, but has the original interior wood shutters for privacy. Having 2 bathrooms is a great feature, as is the completely private and cute courtyard. I absolutely loved this house, but I must admit, winter is probably not the ideal time to stay here. Heaters are available for an extra fee and are definitely needed! I would recommend one for each room, as we only had 2 and we were constantly moving them around. I'm not sure the electrical panel could support more than 2 though, as we did have an issue with the power going off. Another area that could use improvement is the kitchen. It is poorly equipped with dishes, cutlery and utensils and there was nothing in terms of paper towel, dish detergent, dish cloths etc. Also, you will not find any basic necessities food wise, not even salt and pepper. Stocking the kitchen with some of these items would be a low cost but huge improvement, in my opinion. There is an option to have shopping done in advance, for a nominal fee, which is a nice feature. However, at the other locations we stayed, a welcome package (food, wine, oranges, water, buns, cold meat, cheese, pastries) awaited us and was greatly appreciated. The last thing a weary traveler wants to do is go in search of food in a strange environment. The positives definitely outweigh the negatives and I would stay here again, in a heartbeat.

Old town charm

We rented Casa das Andorinhas town house for a family holiday in August 2016. The house is in great condition and retains many original features, but has been well maintained with modern bathrooms and kitchen with all the latest tech we all expect (wi-fi, Wide screen TV etc.) The house is light, bright and tastefully decorated with simple white walls and a courtyard garden that provides great outdoor space to eat or entertain, all in complete privacy. The house itself is situated on a corner in the North end of the old town away from the busiest and loudest night life spots, but within easy walking distance of the town centre itself (5 minutes walk) and from Casa das Andorinhas it will take you 10 minutes to walk to the best nightlife and we spent most of our time at the Batata beach with is a leisurely 15 minute stroll through the centre of town, which is a great walk to begin and end the day. Casa das Andorinhas provides easy access to the motorways and ring roads that allow easy connection to the major roads and attraction in the area along with a number of supermarkets within a 5 minute drive or a local supermarket within a 10 minute walk. If you are driving you will need to find a place to park on the street (which can be challenging at times) but this task far outweighed the choice of renting further out of town in a more modern villa with a drive as you are in the centre of town and able to walk everywhere. Please bear in mind that there is no Air conditioning at the house and if you are staying in the height of summer then it can get warm at night so if you want aircon and absolute peace and quiet then maybe a Villa slightly out of town would be a better choice. We enjoyed being in the heart of Lagos and thoroughly enjoyed our time at Casa das Andorinhas.

Wirklich sehr charmantes Stadthaus mit Flair, welches wir trotz einiger Kritikpunkte wieder buchen würden. Was uns gefallen hat:- zentrale Lage (fußläufig zu Altstadt und Busbahnhof)- der private Innenhof (ein wirkliches Highlight und gut zu nutzen, da zum Frühstück und Abendessen natürlicher Schatten vorhanden). - Das Haus selber ist sehr stilvoll und geschmackvoll gestaltet. Wirklich origniell!- Check-in reibungslos mit Key-box, Agenturmitarbeiter freundlich Kritikpunkte:- Küchenausstattung etwas mager und teilweise in keinem guten Zustand, Spülmaschine zwar vorhanden, aber bei 4 Personen nicht genug Geschirr für einen sinvollen Betrieb- Sauberkeit allgemein ok, aber das Geschirr im Schrank war schmierig bei Ankunft und unter dem Bastteppich im Wohnzimmer sehr viel Sand.- für die Stühle im Innenhof gibt es keine Sitzkissen und für den Tisch im Hof nur die Platzsets, die leider auch etwas unappetitlich waren- das Haus wird von einer Agentur betreut, die ein eigenes Bezahlsystem hat, dessen Bedienung etwas holprig war- Ausser 2 Kleiderstangen gibt es kaum Stauraum fürs Gepäck. Hinzu kam, dass in einer Ecke noch ein Stapel mit 4 Bettdecken für kältere Tage lagen, die man weder benutzen noch verstauen konnte. Fazit: Wir können die Unterkunft trotz dieser Kritikpunkte weiterempfehlen, fanden das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis jedoch nicht ganz angemessen. In puncto Zustand der Ausstattung und Gepflegtheit des Hauses hätten wir für diesen Mietpreis mehr erwartet.

Un beau séjour mais …

… l’arrivée a été un peu compliquée, malgré les mails envoyés par l’hôte avant la date, le jour J impossible de le joindre par téléphone, mails, sms ou via la page Vbro, afin de récupérer les clés, une heure de discussion avec le chat en ligne pour enfin récupérer le code de la boîte à clés. Point d’amélioration: laisser un minimum: sel, poivre, huile, vinaigre, éponge, produits pour les lave vaisselle et machine à laver. Tout acheter pour quelques jours à chaque fois que l’on change de logement c’est vraiment pénible.

comfort limité

La maison est mignonne et bien située dans le centre de Lagos. La plage et la plupart des activités sont accessibles à pied. Par contre elle manque sérieusement d'équipements. Il me parait indispensable d'ajouter des ventilateurs dans les chambres pour l'été (nous y étions en plein mois d'août). La maison est très mal isolée et engrange facilement la chaleur et l'air y circule mal, ce qui rend les nuits étouffantes. Un peu plus de vaisselle serait également apprécié car la quantité limitée force à lancer le lave vaisselle à chaque repas. À noter qu'aucun produit de base ne vous sera fourni (savon, sel, huile...). La maison n'est pas non plus adaptée aux personnes grandes : mon mari de 1,83m se cognait constamment dans les portes et les lits sont petits. La salle de bain ne se vérrouille pas, le ballon d'eau chaude est d'une taille trop juste, la grille du BBQ est rouillée, bref beaucoup de petits détails énervants. Cette location me parait trop chère pour la prestation proposée.

Lagos und Algarve im November

Das kleine portugiesische Stadthaus ist für selbstversorgende Individualreisende genau richtig. Am Rande der historischen Altstadt gelegen, ist alles fußläufig gut erreichbar: Supermärkte (z.B. Pingo Doce und Lidl), Restaurants (z.B. The Green Room um die Ecke), die Marina, die Strände, der Bahnhof (ein Ausflug mit der Algarve-Line lohnt sich auf jeden Fall) und natürlich die Altstadt. Im Haus ist so ziemlich alles vorhanden, was man braucht: Herd, Backofen, Spülmaschine, Waschmaschine, alles da. Eine Kaffeemaschine hätten wir uns noch gewünscht. Aber es gab ein Bialetti für Espresso. Auch Töpfe, Pfannen und Geschirr sind vorhanden, sodass man sich ein leckeres Essen mit frischen Zutaten vom Mercado Municipal zubereiten kann. An der Marina gibt es fangfrische Meeresfrüchte, absolut empfehlenswert. Der Innenhof ist ein schöner Aufenthaltsort, aber leider etwas vernachlässigt, was die Pflanzen und die Sauberkeit betrifft. Zu beachten ist, dass das Häuschen keine Heizung hat, außer einem kleinen Elektro-Radiator. Es wird also im Winter in den Abend- und Morgenstunden schon etwas frisch. Aber das wurde ja in anderen Rezensionen bereits erwähnt. Leider wird es dadurch dann auch etwas feucht, was der Bausubstanz auch etwas schadet und was man durchaus auch riechen kann. Alles in allem haben wir zwei schöne Wochen in Lagos verbracht und uns gut erholt.

Lo primero que quiero destacar es que la casa es como la de mi abuela (vintage) pero eso no quita que este limpia y no con telas de arañas, horno sucios y faltaba un buen barrido por toda la casa. Lo segundo es un buen mantenimiento y no que algunos puertas no cerraban, parquet roto y con carcoma, silla jardín rota y falta de pintura (se nota que es una empresa que lo gestiona). Lo tercero para comunicarnos era con Jao a través de llamada o SMS (con coste ya que era imposible por Watchapp). Lo unico bueno era la ubicación aunque muy dificil de aparcar en esa calle ya que las otras era de pago.

Really nice location, easy to park right next to the house. Shame that beyond toilet paper nothing was provided (no sponges or washing up liquid, no coal for the grill, no salt, etcetc so we had to buy everything new for a one week stay, hoping what we bought remains available to the next guests so they don't have to do the same).
