    Nice family trying to make an old hotel nicer

    A nice family trying to make an old hotel more modern. However, they are not putting their money into the right things in my opinion. An example is the mirror in our room was a smart mirror, but the walls needed to be painted as there were spots that had no paint. Yes it's Florida, however we did get to meet many cockroaches in our room. We could of complained but we just let it be. The bathroom was extremely small and the bathtub/shower was pretty dirty and did not have a stopper for the drain so my fiance had to stuff a washcloth down the drain to take a bath. (She has to clean it herself as it seems housekeeping forgot to??) My fiance grew up in Lakeland so she has a soft spot for the area. It did have great dining options literally next door on either side of the hotel, so that was a plus. Unfortunately though,,until they clean the hotel up, make smart decisions with their renovations, get the Exterminator in the rooms, and paint the walls correctly, we will not be staying here again. I am just giving my opinion. This has an 8.5;rating/10 on hotels.com so some people like this hotel so I urge you to make your own judgements and opinions. On a side note, the family who owns it are very nice so there is that part.

    A nice family trying to make an older hotel nice

    We stayed 2 nights here as we were visiting family in Tampa/Lakeland Area. As far as cleanliness, all I can say is this hotel is run by a nice family who really is trying to make the hotel nicer. However, they havev a long way to go. They are putting their money into making mirrors in the rooms, smart mirrors, but the walls in our room definitely needed a paint job. The flooring was ok, but saw cockroaches in the room on these floors many times. Yes it's Florida you will get bugs in hotels, but honestly they had many cockroaches. We were not there the first night that much but the 2nd night we ended up staying in and getting dinner. The good thing is they had WIFI and Streaming on the TV, so the entertainment was ok. The hotel is near some good restaurants so that was nice. The bathroom was extremely tiny and the bathtub/shower was dirty a bit. The bed was a King Size bed but was very hard and uncomfortable. So all I can say is they should put their money into more important things than making the mirrors, smart mirrors. It's not my money so I digress. This is just a suggestion. So until they make improvements, renovations, get the Exterminator in all the rooms, and clean the hotel better, we unfortunately will not be staying there again. I will say the family that owns the hotel are very nice so that's a plus.

    I would not give this hotel a star rating at all. It is under renovation. The hotel was in shambles and I should’ve noted when we checked in and entered the lobby that it was going to be a very bad poor situation.The room did not have any blackout curtains. The plastic mini blinds that were placed over the window, illuminated the outside light in the room. I was given a sheet to put over the window. At midnight, it was so bright in the room you thought it was daytimeThere’s mold on the window seal in the bathroom and under the mirror by the sink There’s rust all over the towel rack and the toilet paper was just sitting on the back of the toilet because the toilet paper holder was rusted also I complained at the desk to just get cussed out from the morning person. Told me I should’ve left at 1 AM if I wasn’t happy with the room There was no phone. There was no coffee machine. There was no furniture, other than bed and a table there were a few tables where they serve the food, but I wouldn’t of touched the food when the hotel was in this condition. Do not book. Run

    The only thing I was able to enjoy was the bed. Very comfortable. The hotel itself was atrocious. Ice machine broken, the floor was ripped up in places. The door to the room was bent on the bottom, and was open. I had to put a towel at the bottom of the door to muffle noise, which there was a lot of. There was no top lock, which made me very uncomfortable. Bathroom tub leaked somewhere. Water on the floor everywhere after taking a shower. And as a retired FHP employee, I also found it very uncomfortable walking out of the room, as I smelled marijuana. I pointed it out with the desk clerk, but she said she didn't smell it. Family was across the hall from me that had at least 3 kids, running back and forth in the hall. Adults arguing (or partying, couldn't tell) late night. There were very few people staying there, only about 5 cars. The breakfast consisted of waffles and cereal. No toast, pastries, fruit. Had to ask for milk for cereal, as there was none left. Didn't eat breakfast this morning.

    Walking into the lobby area the staff was sitting at the front desk eating chocolate and strawberries. One of the ladies rolled her eyes grabbed the items off of the counter and disappeared. No greeting or anything. The hallways were trashed and the rooommmm. The tub was filthy, dead roaches, and stuff from the last people who stayed in the room. I am very disappointed and disgusted

    We had a 1 night stay here and honestly it’s like people say “you get what you pay for”. As soon as we walked in the lobby smelled like marijuana. They are not serving breakfast even though they advertise it. The rooms were very dirty, rusty, smelly. The rooms smelled like cat pee. I was truly grossed out and didn’t even want to touch anything. I showered with shower shoes on. The towels I was provided had stains on them.

    The room had an odor. Perhaps cigarette or similar. We asked early in the morning for housekeeping to clean the room but they never came. In hotels. Com I was quoted a lower rate but the hotel charged a higher rate. The general areas were dirty. Unsafe unlevel floors. No breatfast was available even though it was advertised that breakfast was included.

    You should be embarrassed to offer this property for a hotel experience. My headboard had nails sticking out of it, we had no hot water, the continental breakfast was not available, the tv did not work, the ac unit was broken and cracked etc the sink was dirty, room 332 and building was dirty. The staff did not care about concerns or making other accommodations, I honestly would like a refund

    Booked this property for the good reviews and fair price. Severely disappointed upon arrival. Facility had paint on the portion of flooring that was still there. There was what I assume to be tobacco in the toilet when we entered the room. The furniture in the room was broken. I would definitely opt for a different facility if I could do it over.

    The hotel is under renovations & our room was half renovated. Multiple problems included: a broken refrigerator, broken window blind with no curtains, hot/cold is reversed in the shower, shower faucet hardware comes away from the wall, no threshold under door, no working remote for the television (5 remotes later it worked), no phone in the room, no working ice machine in hotel, a bug roach in the hallway. The positive was the AC worked, there was hot water & the bed was ok.

    Pay more to stay elsewhere

    I stayed here for a huge event in town. It was one of the last hotels available. I paid over $200 a night for the room and it was the quality of a $50 a night room. The lobby and hallway had obviously been previously flooded with a foul odor and missing and cracked floor tiles, the countertop in the room was dirty and I had to clean it myself. There were only 2 large towels, 1 hand towel and 1 wash cloth available (for 3 people). When I asked for more towels, they only had pool towels to offer. There was a live roach underneath the TV that I touched when trying to figure out how to turn the TV on without a remote (because the room didn't have a remote). I didn't find any bed bugs though, so that's a positive! The door wasn't very secure. No curtains on the window so the lights outside kept the room lit up all night. The breakfast select was extremely limited. There was cereal, but barely a cup of milk left for the cereal, no water to drink, stale bread for toast, and 3 muffins available for the entire hotel. Such a bad experience! I almost walked out but didn't want to waste my $400 and then have to go spend $800 somewhere else!

    The whole building smelled of marijuana. Looked like front desk staff had their kids there, friends, and other NON-employees. Many people around the back of the desk, many not wearing shoes. Went to check into our room, cockroaches on the floor, hallway floors were lifting and glue exposed, door jam was just bare glue floor, hallways in disrepair, sink in room cracked in half, no lightbulbs in lamps, lampshade with burn holes from when there were light bulbs. And again, WHOLE place (which was non smoking) smelled like marijuana. We went to desk to mention the lamps, cockraches, safety concerns and marijuana smell and ask if we could please cancel our reservation. HORRENDOUS, dirty and UNSAFE
