Not worth the price

We paid a lot of money to stay one night in this hotel. The room was small with a small double bed. There was very little room between the end of the bed and the fireplace; which made it difficult to access the bathroom. I’d said on the booking that we were celebrating both my husband’s and my 40th birthday; however there was no perks or any form of hospitality for this. Not even a congratulations from the staff on check in. For the extreme cost we paid to stay for a special celebration; it was not worth it. The location was also further away from the main town than we’d expected. Just not worth the cost.

My Mum was gifted a spa day for two for her birthday so I decided to book a stay also. So glad I did ...loved this hotel. Upgrade on the room, fantastic and beautiful bar area and staff were fab. If I had to offer a slight area to improve...the pool was a tad cool for a spa pool. The hotel was a great location to bars and resturants. Thank you for a lovrly stay .

2nd time, and will be back again

This is my second stay and it did not disappoint. Came for a business trip from London. The hotel itself is beautiful and the staff were all so friendly and helpful, especially the breakfast waitresses. They could not do enough for us, with a smile. One lady even told us all of the history of the building. The Bar was very busy due to a function so we avoided it this time, but breakfast was delicious and plenty of choice. Rooms are lovely and clean with everything you need.

Lovely loking building, and bar area. Check in was quite slow. We were in room 009 and 010 on the lower ground floor. When you exit the lift there is signage for 001 -003 and 19-21 but nothing in between, we asked 3 staff and none then knew where it was, it makes no sense to have signage that does not cover all room numbers. Room 009 was a reasonable size but 010 was about a meter and a half narrower and wasnt big enough to swing a cat in, really disappointing that the size of the rooms differed so much for the same price. Our room keys didn't work and we jad to chnage them 3 times as each time the key didnt work. The bed was comfy and the room temperature was good. Sign on room stating if yiu wanted fresh milk for drinks to just ask, this was requested but we were provided with milk in plastic packers. Negatives are not major issues (except the size of room 010) but small changes could make this hotel a great hotel rather than average. We are already booked in for an event in July, so I'm hoping management see these comments and can make a 2nd stay much more enjoyable so we don't regret the booking and go back to our usual hotel.

What a building

Arrived late round 8.00 at night, told that we would get a free upgrade, well the room was very nice but very small. Goodness knows what an original room was like, as much smaller room would be hard to imagine. Lovely bathroom though.
