First, the very positive parts:
Once we got into the place, the owner was very responsive. In fact, when I inquired about the iron / ironing board that was represented in the listing, and there was none, he ordered one and had it delivered next. The location is great, and the grounds are beautiful.
Areas that need work: Owner was unresponsive for a week before our arrival, up to and including the day we were to arrive. We arrived at the property, with no instructions on how to get in. There was a “for sale” sign in the yard, and we could not contact the owner. It was very unsettling. We called the realtor, who reached out to the owner , who the called and gave us instructions.
There are sticky notes, literally all over the house, asking you not to use this, and that. Some are instructional, and helpful, many are not. (Please take off your shoes when entering etc.) Not hospitable, in my opinion.
The furniture is mismatched and outdated. It looks like a thrift store collection.
The “Marine Room” bathroom, has two shower heads, a fixed, and handheld. The handheld did not work, at all.
Some of the exterior doors are actually padlocked, from the interior, to prevent use. Seems like an extreme fire hazard, to me.
This was kind of a neat house, but it was not a good value. We paid $5700 for 4 nights. My brother rented a much nicer place, with more room, and more updated, for less money.
