Read the Details Before You Book

My husband and I chose to stay at the Wave to celebrate our 25th Anniversary. It is a beautifully renovated hotel in a perfect location and a wonderful staff. With that being said, there were a few details I wish I'd noticed before we booked. First, the restaurant and bar are not open on Monday and Tuesday. It was an extremely hot couple day stay, so we would have liked to order refreshments, especially as we sat around the pool, taking advantageof the extra "$50 resort fee". The manager stated that the restaurant will be open more days in July as the lake season picks up. Also, there isn't a coffee maker in the room. Since the hotel doesn't have continental breakfast, I wished I had this staple convenience. Also, it seemed like the hotel staff struggled to keep up with a busy weekend turnover. The manager apologized and accommodated us with eagerness and grace when our room was not ready at check-in time.

The staff was very friendly, the food at the restaurant located in the hotel was excellent and things were clean. However, for the price of the hotel, it could have been better. The pool was not heated, there was not a child’s play ground which was pictured, and the second bar by the pool was closed for our 3 day stay. The main restaurant was closed Monday and Tuesday so we had to leave the property for waters, food, supplies as no sundry existed either. I hope things get better as this could be a great destination resort verses just a hotel.

This is a very nice property. The grounds are beautiful with a lot of options for things to do, ping pong, corn hole, pickleball, bocci ball, etc. The room was very spacious, well decorated and very clean. The only negative I had was no microwave in the room or lobby to use. I was traveling with my 9 yr old granddaughter and popcorn and hot cocoa were not possible. They have a machine for coffee and cocoa but it wasn’t working. Not a big problem . We would stay there again .

The hotel was nice and newer, but severely overpriced. The pool wasn’t on (filtration off, not heated) and full of bugs. Not big deal, I’ve seen this before and I’ll clean up with a net…but in this case no net. They talk about a pickleball court but only have two paddles for a 4 person game. The rooms are tiny, I’ve had a bigger room on a cruise ship. Just not worth the $350 I paid.” For the night. Oh, and you can hear every footstep in the room above you. They also advertise the bar in the back so a large group of young adults not even staying at the hotel got wasted and left in a party bus at midnight. Also didn’t appreciate having to stand in the middle of their restaurant for 15 min waiting to check in, since their check in desk is also a host stand for the restaurant and bar.

We love this property, no key cards (perfect). The location was amazing. The staff was extraordinary. The restaurant’s staff and hotel’s staff was very helpful. The food was good. The bar at the resort was excellent, kid friendly place. We brought outside food and sat by the fire pit, the staff actually brought water, napkins. The only problem we had was on day one where right above our room where some kids running around, we told the staff three times to do something about it but nothing happened. The staff member said they are going to tell those guests (1 AM) and finally the noise ended at around 3 AM.

Our stay was amazing. The only downfall was the parking. With both the restaurant and the hotel being attached, as a guest staying at the hotel, we couldn’t find a place to park because of how busy the restaurant got. We had to drive around for a little bit again before coming back because there were no spots available to get to our rooms.
