It's a beautiful historic Victorian mansion from the late 1800s that's luxurious and elegant. Cynthia's a marvelous, personable host and great cook. Staying at the Decker House is a pleasure.
A very lovely Bed and Breakfast. We stayed in The Lily of The Valley room. It was a good room at the top of the stairs, perfect for a couple. The queen bed was very comfortable and provided a good night sleep. The bathroom was clean with a walk-in shower. House cats were very friendly and welcoming. Waking up to the smell of breakfast being prepared was divine and it tasted as good as the aroma. The residence is within walking distance of the lovely downtown and just around the corner from the Meredith Wilson (The Music Man) boyhood home. Would definitely book it again.
Cynthia is an amazing chef and a beautiful soul. She was willing to work around my schedule since I was here for a work conference. I am already planning on a return trip for a getaway instead of work. Be sure to go and stay with my new best friend.
The house has an amazing history; is filled with period antiques including circa 1860âs pump organs, and a Geo Prince melodeon.
Itâs a true treasure in a historical area of Iowa. Close to Meredith Wilson museum and a walking distance from Frank Lloyd Wrightâs only hotel (a must see!) Breakfast was superb and make from scratch. This is NOT a hotel and that is truly part of its charm. The owner is extremely gracious, charming and makes you feel at ease almost immediately. Ample parking, several dining options from $ to $$$.
Cynthia is a fantastic cook and host. Her home is beautifully decorated and very clean and comfortable. It was super walkable as well. I would recommend to anyone visiting Mason City.
Poor communication, dog poop on outside sofa, no material on history of house, living area packed with many dining room tables and chairs, floor dirty and a messy appearance, cook was great. Also fix the door handles so they work. Place has potential but long ways to go.
We had a lovely stay at the Decker House B & B. Cynthia prepared a gourmet breakfast in time for us to make our early morning tour of Mason City sites. Perfectly located a block from our starting point at the library, near the Meredith Wilson childhood home and museum and a few blocks from the Frank Lloyd house and museum. Beautiful interior living room and dining areas. We stayed in the master suite Magnolia room on the top floor. Well appointed room with nice jacuzzi tub and sizable private bathroom. Fridge in the room, comfortable King sized bed. Tastefully decorated all throughout the house. We will return when we come back to explore the bike trails and Clear Lake area near by.
Overall great stay. I highly recommend it for either a weekend getaway or traveling to Mason City to work for any extended length of time. I had the pleasure of staying for five nights. Cynthia and The Decker House were wonderful hosts.
Cynthia, the hostess, was most gracious and accommodating. The location was ideal for walking around the downtown area and for proximity to the Music Man Museum.
Mason City is filled with little gems.
I'm so glad we chose to stay at the Decker House. Cynthia is just fantastic and the house itself is incredible and very comfortable. It's also really close to museums and places to eat, we walked around all day and didn't even think about getting in the car. Cynthia's breakfast was also really good, I've never had such wonderfully cooked potatoes. Highly recommend.
The Decker House was very beautiful. We enjoyed looking at the woodwork and the lead glass windows. Our hostess, Cynthia was very nice and accommodating. We really enjoyed our stay
