I was a bit afraid with the reviews but also curious, so I had to check by myself. I loved that place. First I had a European room with share bathroom but decided to upgrade to a garden room. Yes, the carpet and curtains shows sign of wear, it's not perfect like a new Holiday Inn, but I felt like a princess in the gigantic bed.
It appears the owners donât want to spend a dime on upkeep or for adequate maintenance or cleaning staff. What was once an interesting and unique property is now essentially a historic dump
For $250 Garden View King room I was dissapointed in the "garden view" of #310 it was a few small semi alive flowering plants with view of the street over walkway to upstairs rooms one with a large pup that moved around ALOT above me with its people.
I hope The Marriott will bring the magnificent Historical Hotel back to its top service with restaurant and Bar.
Bathroom fan did not work and a bedspread would have been nice.
The entire property smelled like skunk and it was very hot inside our room without a good way to cool down. Both these factors made it really difficult to sleep.
A 'garden view' was advertised, but it was a view of parking lot and dumpsters, and the room was not at the historic hotel. The room was dingy and run down
