Little gem in South Beach

We stayed at the President for 3 nights during Spring Break; the location is excellent with easy walking to anywhere in South Beach. The hotel is not direct oceanfront so we booked a Resort Pass to another hotel for one day and the weather was very windy so it really wasn't beach weather but it would have been a quick walk to any public beach. The room was clean and updated; the bathroom was tiny but usable; there was a fridge and a safe which was nice. There was no housekeeping until the third day, but my husband called to have the linens changed because he didn't think they had been changed upon our arrival and this didn't happen until the third day, and even then the linens were not changed; the bed was simply made and the room was cleaned up. The valet parking was convenient and priced according to the area. The breakfast was nothing great, but there were fresh scrambled eggs, toast, a variety of cereals, juices and coffee and it was better than paying a fortune to eat in one of the restaurants for breakfast. The hotel has a nice balcony in the front and the free welcome cocktail and free daily waters were a bonus.

The property advertises parking BUT there is NO PARKING. Valet parking only unless you park it yourself and that’s not cheap. Valet is about $35-65 per night depending. Our truck was $65. Factor that in. It’s south beach so I’d forgo the car. Just walk or Uber. The breakfast is AWESOME and FREE so that’s five stars. The advertisemed parking pissed me off so I gave them 4 stars. Go to the Italian restaurant on ocean drive super close to the hotel absolutely amazing. The Cuban place next to it was sub par. More than one amazing coffee place super close. I will come back again but not get a car probably. The rooms are nice good bedding. The elevator was small but retro. Te. Building is also retro and great vibe. The price was pretty good but you get hit with a resort fee the moment you walk in. Everyone around seems like they nail you for one thing or another. I’d still come back it’s a beautiful town.

I have stayed at the President Hotel 3 times. The first two times were wonderful experiences. Today, my family arrived by 9:30 a.m. due to super early flights. We put our name on the list to be called if the room was ready before check in at 3. I checked in twice to see and was told no-they don't have control over the order that housekeeping goes in. So, I approached the front desk at 3 p.m. and there was a long line. When I got up to the desk at 3:15 I was told there was still no room ready for me. This was unacceptable. I asked for a manager but was told she was at the sister property the Penguin. As a repeat guest, I would have expected more.

Breakfast was very good and available for a long period of time. Room nice. Bar made delicious drinks. Location excellent - 1 block to beach. Only negative - was pool closed earlier then stated. It would of been nice to sit at the pool later than 6:45p.m.

The short dark hair guy called himself supervisor completely disrespect me , he was very arrogant and aggressive towards me, someone stole my stuff from my room ( kids toys , jewelry and bible) it was all together in one bag, he didn’t even( front desk) listen to me about this. I told him he is not nice because he started yelling at me, i will never come back to this place and tell all my friend what happened to me. This item means to me a lot, because someone who give it to me them is not with us anymore. Be careful they stilling items here.
