Communications were top-notch, and entry and closing out could not have been easier. The house itself is adequate but somewhat dated. It’s challenging to find the entry. The coffee maker was broken, but management had one delivered by end of day and offered to reimburse us if we wanted to go out for coffee. The photos onsite are accurate, technically, but somewhat misleading. The house does have a view of the lake, but in actuality it’s far down a steep walk to reach the beach. The stairs to 2nd floor are narrow and steep. They need a handrail, in my opinion.

The house was a perfect summer cottage with spectacular views. We did a short family trip.There were five adults in the house and It accommodated us perfectly. The host is very easy to work with. We enjoyed our stay and made wonderful memories.

Older house with plenty of charm. Lots of room for our family and dog. Perfect location with just a short walk to the beautiful beach and short drives to grocery store and other food options. Plenty of beach gear available on site. We would definitely stay again!

The porch, the fire pit, the view and obviously the beach made it an amazing 2 weeks. Our only issue was the oven; it is very hot to the touch when cooking and heats the whole kitchen so it’s very uncomfortable to be in there. It’s a very very basic model.

Secluded hideaway with amazing views

Fabulous, private, quiet. Two minute walk to beach (literally). Well outfitted kitchen. Favorite spot was the porch! Everything needed for a beach vacation was provided. Throughly and absolutely enjoyed our stay.

Fun long weekend

We really enjoyed the property. Even though the house is dated, there are a lot of little perks: beautiful view, extra drinking water, coffee, snacks, and clean white linens. The walk to the beach is a little more strenuous than expected. I would visit here again!

Do not rent!

I was very disappointed in this rental. I found the condition of the house and yard unacceptable. The retaining walls keeping the property from eroding are falling apart or missing. The erosion not only impacts this property, but that of the neighbors. None of the bark mulch edging the driveway remains, leaving the landscaping fabric to flap in the wind. Junk is stacked near the garage (old dishwasher, many overturned garbage cans, strollers, beach chairs, etc). Throughout the yard, there are multiple unopened bags of landscaping materials, exposed piping, wires, a pooper-scooper, overturned garbage can lids with significant algae growth, etc. The entryway door handle was covered in grime (I wish I could upload a photo; yuck). Once inside, the musty smell was overwhelming. The dishes in cupboards were dirty (nothing worse than someone else's lipstick on EVERY wine glass), and strewn about with no order. The oven mitts were DISGUSTING; possibly never washed (again, I wish I could upload a photo). The kitchen sponge was used. The eating utensils were child-sized, with only a few pieces of actual silverware. We rented in Nov, yet each bed had but one thin blanket with no extra blankets to be found. The air conditioning units remained in the windows allowing cold air inside. My overall impression is this house is being used as a money grab, with no care or consideration for the property, the neighbors, the environment, or the renters. VRBO should not allow this rental.

Location Can’t Be Beat

Gorgeous view of Lake Michigan from the comfort of the enclosed porch and easy access to the beach. The house was roomy and comfortable with plenty of room for 5 adults and a toddler to spread out. A quick drive to several good restaurants and the outlet mall. We cooked a meal in the fully equipped kitchen, too. A+++++ experience.

Girls's Weekend Redux

Our five lifelong ride-or-die friends from around the country got together for the weekend, staying at the beach house in Michigan City. It. Was. Perfect. Perfect weather, perfect spot. 10/10, would book again. We loved that chairs, towels, etc. were available to use, especially with the beach wagon. House is super-clean and has everything. Communications and directions were excellent. This was our second year at this property. It was super quiet bc ND and the Bears were both out of town. Perfect!

Summer vacation

Spectacular Views from both the house and nearby beach. While a short walk the dunes and uphill return will challenge you but it will also help you work off the good vacation meals. The one thing I would have appreciated would have been a small bar of soap for the shower. It may have been mentioned in the very detailed information to bring your own. We brought shampoo but missed any memo on soap. No biggie really, went and purchased some. Know this truly is a 100 year old property and the stairs are very steep but once you make it upstairs there is a beautiful view from a sitting room and one of the bedrooms! Don’t put you 6ft plus family members upstairs as the bathroom is really tiny. Our son who lives in Chicago called it an “city bathroom” Overall a very nice stay!
