The place is nice. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen very functional. The surroundings are beautiful. Area amenities are easy to get to and the hosts are very quick to respond. The home gets very warm in the summer and takes a long time to cool back down.Great spot all told.
Had a great time, the cottage is somewhat secluded which gave us a nice quiet stay. Plenty to do in the surrounding parks so we stayed busy and got to enjoy some amazing sights.
Itâs remote. Enjoyed the quiet. Back deck and front porch are great to hang out. Really cool shower. Easy access to West Jefferson and Boone. About a 30 minute drive.
Overall the experience of staying at this VRBO was positive. The location was easily accessible and the home was well stocked with towels, paper products, kitchen supplies (pots, pans, mugs etc.). This is an older home which has been upgraded nicely to include modern comforts but still retains a rustic, comfortably lived in vibe. That said, there were two issues we felt worthy of mentioning. The cleanliness was somewhat substandard. Iâm not one to take a white glove to window ledges or door jambs, by any means. However, there was a significant amount of dust, hair, and some type of desiccated bugs under the beds. The shower was in need of some TLC as there was a significant amount of black mildew on the floor. The rest of the house was reasonably clean though. The second issue, which is largely beyond the owners control was related to noise and/or privacy. You can pretty much hear any sounds made by anyone, anywhere in the house. Fortunately, the road doesnât have much traffic, but if you donât sleep like a log, you may be awake occasionally at 3-4 am when a loud truck goes by. Not a deal breaker for us though and some may even like that they can always hear their kids in the next room. Overall, if the cleaning was improved; Iâd recommend this place for a weekend getaway.
Beautifully landscaped. Owner responded immediately to our one question. Bedding and beds appeared clean and were comfortable. Bunk beds were easily accessible, but very close to ceiling and upper bunk. Do not recommend if you have any level of claustrophobia. Bathroom and kitchen were not clean. They werenât gross, but they werenât clean either. Grease, crumbs, etc on stove and toaster. Cleaned shower myself before we used it, but musty smell remained. Plenty of towels and washcloths were provided. There were multiple dead bumblebees on the floor inside when we arrived and we continued to have various crawling visitors throughout our stay - including wasps. Not sure where they came from, but they werenât coming in through the front door. I prefer my ânatureâ outdoors. Back deck would have been pleasant and has a table and chairs, but the chair cushions werenât clean so we didnât use this area. This is the only table seating available here. All interior doors are sliding barn doors which knock against the walls - a problem when you are sharing a bathroom at night - constant noise. Reading this, it seems like a negative review, and it isnât meant to be completely negative. We did enjoy our stay and the little house suited our purpose. Having a full size refrigerator and the ability to make breakfast was great: but I would have expected a higher level of clean and less crawling visitors.
Very peaceful and private. The street is quite busy and noisy but the view of the stars and the orchestra from the bull frogs around the pond made you forget about that. Was a nice quick get away!
My partner and I stayed here for the weekend and it was quiet and peaceful- it was just the getaway we needed. The bed was comfy, the bathroom and kitchen were clean, Edward was fantastic with communication!! We would definitely stay here again!!The only negative is the ceilings/doorways were very low- my partner is 6â 3â and hit his head several times. Minus that our stay was wonderful
Overall excellent from the booking to speaking with edward. Everything was awesome! Hope we have the chance to come back! The atv trails on darrel creek road was amazing. Went water crossing! Kids absolutely loved it!. House is beautiful! Well tooken care off! Thank you tremendously for everything!!!!
My best friend and I were planning a girls weekend for Faith Fest and rather than stay in a stuffy hotel room, we opted to find something better.
We found the greatest little place.
Full of charm and so much more.
Thank you Edward, for allowing us the wonderful opportunity to enjoy Millers Creek.
It was truly amazing.
Had a very nice time at the cabin, it was well supplied and recently renovated with AC, a full kitchen and a modern bathroom. There were unfortunately a number of dead bugs and spiderwebs built up on windowsills and walls, but otherwise it was well kept.
Be aware it's a full 45 minute drive into Boone and West Jefferson, but it is quite close to the blue ridge parkway which we thoroughly enjoyed.
