I grew up with a cottage in the area and was looking to rent a pet-friendly place, last minute, that was similar to where I grew up. I wanted something with clean, clear water, good swimming, and water boats included, with a rustic feel. Lindsay’s place was spot on! Full of historic charm (original windows and fireplace, full wood trim), and enough modern amenities to make it comfortable.
The view from the deck is stunning! I came out and went back in just to come back outside and be hit with that view!! The property grounds are VERY uneven - my elderly mother was supposed to come but she decided against it due to the stairs everywhere. Personally, I loved it!
The water was clear and crisp. The dock had a few spots that seemed like if you stepped wrong you might break it, but it held up through 3 kids and me jumping off it!
There was a duck that came right up to us, and hopped up right onto the dock with us!! He even nibbled our fingers and toes!! We named him Goose ;)
There was also a family of loons that called in the distance at night, and one of them joined me on my morning kayak ride too!
It was a chore to get the canoe out of the boathouse - very challenging indeed - and even putting the paddle boat in was not easy, but we managed. The kayaks are light and easy to manoeuvre.
For having the only heat source mentioned in the cottage being the wood stove, there wasn’t much Firewood. Almost felt like there wasn’t enough to use.
Overall it was darn near perfect!
