Great location in the Downtown area, only a block from the Convention Center and near lots of shops and restaurants. I have stayed here many times over the years. I enjoy the ambiance of a well-maintained Victorian building, decor and antiques. This visit I was given a room near the elevator, and it was handicapped accessible with ADA bathroom. Not a great vibe for me personally, but this would be perfect for those who require accessibility. Comfortable bed and an assortment of pillows. I'll definitely stay again in the future.

The photos on the website aren’t true representation of the condition of the hotel . It’s a historic hotel so we like the decor and the atmosphere that it gives . However, furnishings and hotel itself are older that is not evident in photos . If you keep that in mind, you will enjoy your stay . Excellent location because it’s a short walk to downtown , old Fishermans wharf and canary row . Lots of restaurants nearby . Parking is easy. Overall, would recommend but know that it’s an older property

It's quaint and old, but the room was clean. It's definitely loud at night but otherwise ok for sleep. Not a place I'd want to hang out in all day. Convenient to everything in Monterey!

Carpets were smelly, old and dirty. Faucets were old and dirty. Wrong directions were given for EV charger Alarm sounded 7:00 AM for 15 minutes, fire department arrived and silenced the alarm. Guest were instructed to get back to the rooms. Alarm went on again and again. I want my money back.

I would not suggest visiting this hotel during the summer. We had visited this hotel for my brothers. Graduation in . There was no air-conditioning in the rooms, but they did have air conditioning in the main lobby area. they do not have continental anymore. I was under the impression that they did, which is why I booked this hotel. They do not have a parking structure. I repeat NO PARKING! You would have to park in a public parking lot near the hotel or on the streets and Pay.

One of my worst hotel stays ever. This hotel is extremely, old, outdated and dirty. I wish I would have taken photos in my room to show examples but I was just eager to get in and out fast as possible. There is no designated parking for the hotel, you have to park at charge in a nearby lot, or pay for valet. The building is falling apart and downright gross. Water stains everywhere in the bathroom, dirty carpet, chipped paint, loose handles, you name it. On top of it, the service and check in was an absolute mess. The staff member at check in was a very polite and helpful gentleman, but he could not save the experience. Upon checking in I am given a room key, I go to get settled in my room, but the key doesn’t work. I tried it at least 20 times. I go back down and ask for another key, this time I go to use the key, I open the door and the room is CLEARLY still occupied, clothes strewn around the room, toiletries on the bed side etc… this is unacceptable. If someone had actually been in the room when I opened the door we both would have been mortified. I returned to the staff member very flustered and he is questioning me about whether I have the right room etc as though he didn’t give me the key. He double checks in the system and he’s completely puzzled and can’t figure out how this happened. Eventually he offers me another room, with an upgrade, but says “he will waive the upgrade fee.” Well duh! Why would I pay for y’all’s mistake!!! Anyways, awful experience here.

Nicely located , a bit dated but friendly staff. No ac in room at all. Stains on carpet made us uncomfortable. Maintenance issues throughout property. But amazing staff. Front desk young woman when we checked in was absolutely amazing- a real credit to your business.
