We went to Eswatini for a Hawane dam fishing trip.
Hawane resort was a excellent place to stay , with friendly staff.
Unfortunately Hawane dam access is now controlled by Malaloja game reserve and even with a fishing license obtained by Malaloja, we found it extremely difficult to enter the dam premises. It is also extremely sad to see and hear that they allow nets in Hawane dam. We caught this carp, removed pieces of net from it, and released him.

Tranquil stay
Good stay. Very helpful and friendly reception lady and staff. Very quiet and peaceful. Breakfast was not too bad, however sausages and juice were not up to scratch. Struggled with water pressure as well but it got sorted out. Overall, my partner and I enjoyed our stay.
This hotel is really nice, just 10km away from Malolotja nature reserve. In this period, we were the only host but we could have a good diner at the restaurant of the resort. Each guest has his own small house, it's really typical and original. We recommand the Hawane Resort!
I dont even know where to start, the place is horrible, firstly whats on advert is not what we found there, the place was filthy, disgusting, scopions running on beds, spiders all over the room, dirty showers, I just cant explain how horrible it was, breakfast was as bad. We could not stay longer than just a night which we couldnt wait for it to be over, mind you we got there at night and had no where to go otherwise we would not have stayed the night, we called the management to see the state of the environment we had to sleep in, we therefore moved out as fast as we could, we stayed for one night. We hope our refund will be processed sooner as discussed with manager.
I requested and booked and paid for a house with double beds to accommodate two adults and two children in the resort. On arrival I was informed and given a cabin boat with single double bed to be found on a lake 35 miles away from the resort!!!!!! I refused this insult and left immediately to try and get emmergency accommodation elsewhere for my family.
A charming tourist village of thatch-roof "chalets" in a rural setting, but many amenities are not as advertised, most importantly NO WIFI. Expedia and other on-line listings clearly said they had wifi for an additional charge, but staff said it's "not working now" for the two days of my stay, with no indication of when it would be back. (The front desk was also without internet, so my Expedia reservation was on a sheet of paper evidently printed elsewhere.) Alleged internet was the main reason I chose this property. They could offer no alternative except driving into town to a cafe that had it. (I ended up driving 3 km to a point on the access road where I could get cellphone coverage from South Africa.) Other issues: No soap in bathroom. No hot water. (Although there's red and blue spigots, both came out the same temperature, which is acceptable for showering but not bathing in the roman tub.) Comfortable bed, but also a nightly mosquito visitation that disrupted my sleep. In all, I found workarounds and had a pleasant stay, but not happy that I was misled on the Wifi. Note: Poor signage if coming from South Africa. Take Exit 4. Beware of Google instructions that lead only to the highway turnoff. Continue on this road for about 7 km until you see signs for the resort. If you have a South Africa cellphone, load your maps and do your internet work before you leave the border.
We arrived with a confirmed, pre-paid booking, and the hotel was overbooked. Instead of a chalet, they put us in their backpackers - formerly their stables, very uncomfortable and irritating.
a little bit expensive for what they can offer.
room are not very big, you need to wait for 5 minutes to get any hot water in the shower. it's quit dark in the room, a bit old (broken window, bed + linen) there's no fridge in the room and a very basic kettle with 2 cups that you don't really want to drink from.
THe restaurant is ok but nothing fancy and in my opinion very expensive for the food.
They allegedly have a sauna but apparently it's connected with the kitchen so you can not really use it. overall it's alright but it needs to be renovated and painted fresh.
The b uffet for dinner was more then poor. Not even a good reclame, when the half buffet is empty, when more guests arrives and the a la card kitchen is closed.
Horrible. Hotels.com why do u allowsuch places to be advertised. I ddnt even sleep there . I want my refund back

Backpacker experiance
We stayed in the 'backpackers', which was very basic at best as reflected in the price. Could do with a lick of paint in the barn as the walls had dirt marks all over them.
A very disappointing experience. The room was in desperate need of an upgrade. The bedside lamp did not work and had a big hole in the shade. The bathroom light did not work. Request for a bulb for the bedside lamp was ignored. The lighting between the Dining room and the bungalow did not work and I stumbled over a rock gutter trying to see in the dark.
If I had my way: I would be refunded for the second night because I could not go back there for the second night. The place lacks a lot of amenities and even water was cold on the night.

Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
Chalets and restaurant overpriced
Suggest you try Bulembu lodge if looking for accommodation in this area. The backpackers in dark and dingy, upgraded to chalets which were expensive and simple. Maintenance is not a priority and ended up with a cold shower in the morning. Suggest you eat before arriving, dinner is $15 per person for simple buffet and no options close by. Stayed in awesome accommodation throughout SA and Swaziland and this was most disappointing.
