We review the room on the basis of value for money. The room cost the same as 5 star hotel in a major city. We appreciate the fact that this is high season in a sought after location. The motel has limited facilities. No cafe, restaurant. No outside seating area to appreciate the view. Amenities are jombo sized, not elegant. Nor comprehensive. Cooking facilities are adequate but, for example, no oil for cooking etc. For a reasonably priced motel we would rate good to excellent. BUT, based on price this is just OK

Nice comfortable single level motel accommodation in peaceful Mount Cook Village. We stayed in an executive studio which was a very good size, very clean and well maintained. It has a well stocked kitchenette and dining space. We picked up provisions on route as there are no supermarkets nearby.There are a few options for eating out or takeaway at the Hermitage Hotel and Old Mountineers Cafe too. Great location in the mountains and close to walking trails and other activities.

Nice clean room. The beds are too soft. The hotel has no ice machine. I guess that is ok but they send out a notice to bring groceries as there are no stores. However the refrigerator is off and it takes awhile to cool. No way to make ice until we are leaving. They should tell guest to bring ice if they need it for a cooler etc.

We enjoyed our stay here overall. Pros: The view from the room was absolutely fabulous — truly beautiful and a real highlight. The staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming, and the location couldn’t be better: close to everything and very convenient for getting around. The kitchenette was well equipped, although a few more basics like additional coffee cups would have been helpful, as there were only two provided, which meant rewashing items more often than expected. The con: the area that could really use improvement was the bed. It was extremely soft, and after four nights we both ended up with some back discomfort, (which is not something we are prone to). The pillows were also quite bulky and firm, and not the most comfortable for sleeping. The property is a little worn in places, but it has everything you need and is a very pleasant place to stay. With a more supportive mattress and better pillows, this would easily be an excellent stay.

We loved our stay here! The rooms have everything you need for your stay at Mount Cook. Be sure to grab groceries before arriving to the park to cook in the well appointed kitchenette. Room 26 had an incredible view of the mountain it was stunning!

The absolute highlight of this property is its unbeatable proximity to the best hiking spots in the area. We were able to spend less time driving and more time on the trails. Within a short drive, we accessed [You can insert the name of a specific famous trail or area here, e.g., 'the entrance to the Red Rock Canyon trail'] and several other fantastic lookout points. For anyone prioritizing outdoor adventure and maximizing trail time, the location is simply ideal. It’s not just close to nature, but also conveniently near the main living areas/town, making grocery runs and dinner easy.
