We arrived to a quite subdivision with a gated entrance. This is the type of place where everybody waves at you, which is a pleasant change from our home in the northeast. Driveway was a bit long but not an issue as others have said. Beds were comfortable after a 15 hour drive. Hope to book this place again as im a creature of habit
We live in the neighborhood and needed one of the rentals for extended family during the Christmas holiday. We knew about Rustic Retreat and chose it. It met our expectations and the owner was easy to work with.
The cabin was filthy. The loft bed sheets were stained and had to be washed before sleeping. The closet shelves in the main level were full of dirty sheets and blankets. The thermostat was set on 70 degrees cold and we couldnât change it. We called for a code that it asked for, but we got no help. The couches were stinky and dirty. Oven was dirty and greasy. Laundry door was falling off. Awful.
The cabin was beautiful, clean and comfortable. We loved the views and it was wonderful seeing the deer with their phones spelled FAWNS. We had a wonderful time. Thank you Marc and Windi for sharing your home with us.
The advertisement of upscale is correct.
The neighborhood is lovely with safe, paved asphalt road for the inclines. The property has nice furnishings. There are multiple comfortable seating areas with a tree/mountain view for conversation, reading or solitude.
I especially loved the upstairs loft. Beautiful wood walls and floors. Lovely golden light coming in every morning and sunset.
Enjoy
We had a great stay, and would highly recommend. Mark was great, and handled an unexpected problem quickly. The beds were comfortable, the cabin was very clean, and the kitchen had everything we needed for 7 adults to cook all of our meals. There was an incredible amount of deer and turkey in the community, which made the drive up to the cabin interesting. Our GPS took us up on top of the mountain, which had a difficult turn or two, but we found a much better way in on a lower road. The next time we come to Murphy, this cabin will be our first choice!
We were a family of 6. The cabin is beautiful and cozy. It is well equipped with all the essentials and remarkably clean. Everyone commented that their beds were comfortable and they slept well. We cooked all of our meals, including Thanksgiving and had everything we needed. Lots of space in all of the rooms. Loved the wrap around porch area too. It is very peaceful up there. We would love to return again.
A big thank you to the owner Mark for working with a stranded couple from Florida during the peak of fall season with no room available at any inn nearby. What a beautiful cabin to welcome some weary travelers. The view from the upstairs master took my breath away every morning at sunrise. Everything was simply wonderful!
Overall, our stay was wonderful because we love riding all the magnificent roads in the area! Specifically, there were a lot of light bulbs out, underwear found under a couch cushion and the requested duties to do before checkout were a bit excessive ( make the beds?) Also , when asked if the cabin was motorcycle accessible I was told the âcommunity is gated and pavedâ but nothing was said about the tight hairpin curves ! We did fine due to our experience but it is not motorcycle accessible! Overall, great place to say if u r staying put for a few days lol but going in and out is tough!
We enjoyed our stay in this peaceful, beautiful cabin. It was clean, check in was a breeze and our host, Mark, checked on us during our stay to ensure we had everything we needed. We were able to visit several nearby towns during our stay which added to our trip. We would highly recommend. :)
My kids and i wanted to get away for spring mountains. We had a wonderful time in the beautiful house enjoying the amazing views of western north carolina.
What a pleasant stay. We are 3 couples who used the cabin to explore the area and loved the comfortable beds. There was plenty of space to sit around and socialize, both inside and out. There are plenty of small towns in the area with wineries, shopping, and outdoor activities. The kitchen was well stocked and allowed us to have breakfast and dinner most days. Mark was very helpful and available by text.
