I love that it's on the second floor overlooking the pool and the bar area. We had no issues with noise from downstairs. It's great to have a bar, a restaurant and an ocean all in one setting. There was a delay at check-in, though it was easily cleared up by a text. The second time we've been able to stay in this room. Even with four people it didn't feel like we were tripping over each other. We absolutely plan on renting this one again.
The view was amazing BUT when we checked in the light fixture was hanging in the dining area. It was reported upon check-in but never fixed the entire week. We were unable to use it. After check-out they "Found" numerous issues to use as an excuse to keep my deposit. When advised I have video proof of these being incorrect the staff simply hung up on me and refused to take my telephone calls. Save yourself the hassle up front and book with a better landlord!!
The condo was perfect. We loved the convenience of everything at the hotel. A bar, restaurant, pool, onsite parking and of course the beach.
In previous reviews someone mentioned the noise. We didn't find it an issue being right above the pool. It wasn't that loud. It's what you'd expect at a typical resort. They also complained about the outside bar downstairs. Again we didn't find the noise an issue. The bar shuts down by 11:00. As far as I could tell there was no noise after that.
Check in process was slightly frustrating. You must wait until 4:00 for an email with the code and drive off property 10 minutes away to an unmarked storefront in the rear of a building to retrieve your room card keys from a lockbox. Upon returning the keys back to Big Fish realty we discovered Kind Belly Cafe which was excellent . So there was a plus to this whole process.
Great place! We had a lot of fun each day, the location is great and views were beautiful. The only thing I would suggest to the host is to update the bathroom, maybe paint the walls and replace the shower curtain. Maybe add some fun beachy decor. Other than that, everything was clean and enjoyable. Thank you!
Condo a little run down. We were told a parking pass for the week was included but we had to pay for one. Big Fish Rentals instruction list is not easy to deal with at all. Weâve dealt with them in the past and had we known the VRBO booking went through them, probably would not have chosen this condo.
The location was my favorite, Iâve stayed at this specific unit for 6 years straight before it became a rented-out condo thru agencies. First time dealing with an agency. Communication in the beginning could have been better - instructions to get the key card were unclear even though we paid for a 2 hour early check in. Communication overall after that was great!
I wish I would have read through the contract before my husband booked this stay. The expectations from the host are insane. The door was broken when we got there, they did send someone to fix it right away. The chain to the light was pulled out of the ceiling when we got there, luckily my children werenât with us because they would have gotten ahold of it. The beds where stained with pee and blood on both of them. I had to strip the blankets off of one bed and double layer them on the other because I was so disgusted by it. Once again if my kids where with us we would have gone somewhere else I would not have let them sleep in those beds. Also, there is a serious cockroach problem. When we got home I left everything outside for a couple days to not infest my house if any had gotten in our belongings. You also need to drive ten minutes away to get your keys to the room and then drive the keys back to the office. And parking is not included you have to pay. Will not be booking through Big Fish ever again
The pictures looked nice. They have an absolute zero refund policy. The unit was dirty and in need of repairs and maintenance. Not at all up to my standards. I would not use this company again. Future renters beware of "Big Fish Rentals". We had stayed at Sands Ocean Club several times and had excellent experiences with beautiful units. This one was not. The floors were nasty, the tub needed repairs, there were food/drink stains on the walls, the wall beside the sliding glass door needed repair, and there was dirt on every door/cabinet. They did offer another property but it was thirteen minutes away. Never got to speak to anyone in person. Text only. I thought it was very unprofessional. The pictures of the unit looked beautiful, but the unit did not actually look the same as in the pictures. Again, very disappointed and will not use this company again.
Sands Beach is showing its age terribly, not clean, unit outdated, broken small appliances, wall surface damage; things that were fixed were do so the cheapest way possible. I will think long and hard before utilizing this resort again. Strange thing, once upon a time we owned in this banner. If I owned now I would be mad.
The condo was filthy and in desperate need of a good cleaning. The floors where not cleaned and the inside of the microwave was definitely not cleaned!! The sliding door to the balcony was broken and would not lock. Emailed the property manager and although they promised to come fix it they didnât! Had to use a broom handle to keep it shut. Other than the view there was NOTHING nice about this place. Extremely disappointing
Iâve stayed at Sands Ocean Club multiple times. The facility is dated but has a welcoming charm. I rented from Big Fish Reality and will not rent from them again. I do not recommend them as I found them to be very strict and charge for excessive things. Iâve rented from other owners and I never had to pay a price for each vehicle parking from an owner at Sands Ocean, in my case, 2 motorcycles that can fit in one parking space.. I felt that was extreme. I always purchase insurance because you never know if something could happen.. but this time Iâm glad I did purchase as their contract is really strict and it made me think they were looking for anything to charge you for. I reported damaged furniture, tv remotes not functioning and the text message response the agent seemed to care but also questioned why I needed two working remotes when there were two tvs. Strange, but I didnât want to be charged for a remote that was not there. Then when it was time to check out I had to return the key back to the realtor and could not get into the secured community due to riding on my motorcycle, although I picked it up on Wednesday in that same community on my motorcycle. The gate security was nice and called for a van driver to drop the key card off to Big Fish and I had to keep calling as the realtor said they never received it. I was communicating with different people. They were all nice but it does not appear as they were communicating with one another at this realty company. The unit is pretty nice at Sands Ocean but the beds were horrible. Need better mattresses and Big Fish may want to have the cleaning company mop under the beds.. it was dusty and needed attention. Expensive stay for a quick midweek stay.
We felt Some of the owners fee are a bit ridiculous for example paying for trash bags . Parking passes . the filters in the air units were nasty And the air units didnât keep us cool at night . the patio furniture is very outdated as well . I felt like there should of been more towels especially since we booked 4 nights . Also weâre no dish towels but yet we are expected to clean all the dishes before we leave . we were told to make sure the tv inputs were correct but when we turned it on someoneâs Netflix account was already logged in . there were a broken toilet sit just sitting under the sink . the tub also looked dingy and not clean , there was sand in it the 1st day we arrived . we are not ones to complain but was disappointed bc the condo has such a beautiful view and we love staying at this resort .
The property / rental space itself could use some updating. Beds and furniture was dated. Air filter in the bathroom fan was extremely dirty. All VRBO's I have stayed in previously had shampoo's, and bath soap. Not the case here. You need to bring you own "personal hygiene" items.
The property management company "Big Fish rentals" was great to work with and very responsive. I had originally reserved the unit for 3 weeks earlier. I was ill and unable to travel. They were able to reschedule me on short notice, for a fee of course. I also locked my key card in the room. They were able to get me another in a timely manner. They also provided some "personal hygiene" items when I asked about them.
Parking was a challenge at times. But it was labor day weekend, the place was full, so I suppose it should of been expected. They have a parking garage and an overflow garage across the street.
All in all, for what we paid, I think I could find a more modern up to date place for roughly the same price.
I never received instructions on how to check in. I was told I didnât sign the lease agreement. Iâm pretty sure I did but if not why didnât I receive an email reminding me to do it. 1 key for 3 adults. This is unexceptable and Iâve never stayed anywhere you didnât have at least 2 keys. No plunger in the room. The front desk flat out refused to help. Finally got one an hour later.
The emails said I had to pay for parking when I got there and trash bags. They charged 35 for parking pass and 3 trash bags but later when we got the key there was a parking pass in there and trash bags in the room so we paid 35 for no reason. Otherwise stay was great
Sheets w/ sand in them and we did not notice until we went to bed. Then 1st morning saw the coffee pot had old moldy coffee filter. Called property management and they responded quickly to resolve both issues.
This until needs some TLC underneath bathroom sink had construction (caulk, towel bar etc) and was unusable. Dishwasher was broken, no lighting in the sitting area.
The pluses: The location was nice, space was great.
