The view from this house is terrific--high on a hill looking over other hills and down to the sea. And you have the hills view from the hot tub as well. The house is quite spacious and we found it to be quite well equipped as well. It could use a bit of TLC in some places (e.g., exterior furniture, BBQ, weather-etched doors in master bedroom), but not serious, Re the road to it, yes, it is narrow and rather precipitous, but negotiable (and if you check it out on Google, you'll find an alternate route that cuts out quite a bit of the scary road). The beds are good, the laundry works well, and the kitchen is large with a great view. We were there for 8 days an we'd happily stay there again.
If you want a view this provides you with a lovely view. The spa pool was a perfect temperature. The last AirB&B didnât get to temperature so that was nice. Use of the garage for our bikes was handy, once my husband fixed the up and over door. Nice heated floor in the bathroom. Perfect for colder days but we turned it off as the rooms got really hot with the sun. Plenty of towels provided. Nice to have carpeted rooms. The bedrooms were good sizes. One of the bedrooms was away from the others which may suit some. Unfortunately, it felt that it hadnât been cleaned. There was still a used cup and plate left at the bedside. Tinsel left out from Christmas. The cups in the cupboard were not clean. It would have been nice to open the master bedroom curtains to see the beautiful view but the double glazing needs replacing. The roads were extremely tight up to the property with cars and overgrown trees (the neighbour cut those back after a couple of days). We had to take the bikes off, lift the bike rack up as it scraped on the turn up to the property. The piano needs a good tuning and maybe some games to play, chess, cards etc. would be a good idea. All in all a good stay, but needs some attention to make it more pleasurable.
Superbly-designed multi-level upmarket home on a commanding hillside location ... (a) Layout: from front door 6 stairs down to bottom bedroom, 10 stairs up to Lounge & Kitchen on level 2, another 6 stairs to level 3 with 2 bedrooms + 2 bathrooms .. stairs all carpeted with rail .. (b) Positives of house are numerous & major: fantastic views of surrounding hills, city centre & suburbs down below & of Tasman Bay extending out towards Kaiteriteri & the Takaka Hills ... serene & surrounded by native bush / birds ... a very modern & tasteful interior with plush new carpet and immaculately presented bedrooms & lounge ... extremely comfy beds/lounge ... very effective heatpump (warms room unusally quickly) ... attractive kitchen with full amenities ... 2 bathrooms (1 with bath) & outdoor spa pool ... TVs in both the lounge & in downstairs bedroom (incl Netflix) ... (c) Negatives of house: few in number & relatively minor - these included (1) some noise in downstairs bedroom from fellow guests in kitchen/lounge above (upstairs bedrooms, however, are perfectly quiet), (2) as others have said: parking space is a little tight to turn car around but becomes relatively easy after 1st couple of attempts, (3) dining room chairs plastic (could do with softer seating), (4) bedrooms need more coathangers ... (5) greater rubbish capacity limit ... (d) Overall: Major Strengths significantly outweigh minor weaknesses .. an extremely attractive house in a stunning location .. Highly Recommend.
Such a beautiful spot! We had a wonderful holiday in Nelson and this home totally made it for us! Beautiful views. The surrounding trees and bush provided stunning bird life and song all while being 5 min from town. The spa was a massive bonus and gave us precious family time to relax together which we donât usually get to do! We would happily stay here again!
Holiday Nelson are great to book with. Awesome communication and made it easy for us! Thank you so much!!!
Spacious and comfortable. Everything was clean and tidy. The kitchen was well equipped. The espresso machine is a nice touch! It is very close to town, although it is a steep hill, which we didn't mind. There is also a small trail off the shared driveway that connects into a larger local trail network. Great place for our family holiday.
We have stayed in this property before and chose it again because it offers excellent sea and bush views and a sense of seclusion. It is close to Nelson and some excellent coffee shops and also close to the walk up to the 'Centre of NZ'. It is a comfortable house with a well-equipped kitchen. There were a few little glitches to do with door hinges and light bulbs but these were rectified by the property managers.
We had a great stay. Loved the views, rooms and spa. Only issue was navigating to the property as the address in Google Maps took us to the wrong street. Better instructions and more signage would have helped. Otherwise, we couldn't fault the place. Thank you so much for a great stay!
For the price charged it was disappointing to find the house was not particularly clean and there were electrical leads hanging out of the back of the tv which for the price charged was pretty small. Also, only sixcups in the kitchen and most of the cups and plates were chipped, the heater in the bedroom is missing the control button so could not be turned on when really cold one afternoon and we were unable to dispose of our rubbish in the green bin as requested in the info book as there was no green bin. Upon checking with another resident in the street they said there was no green bin for this rental accommodation and that they weregetting fed up with having to pick up rubbish left in plastic bags on the street by other users of this place, which they understood was not the fault of the people renting this place but the holiday company who runs this - Holidays Nelson - maybe is this house was individually owned and rented out things would be run a lot better - it felt like we were being way overcharged for the standard of accommodation given.
Our family enjoyed our stay and found that the home had all the things we needed plus some nice touches like the spa. The hosts were really responsive when something wasn't right and resolved it quickly. The driveway isn't easy to navigate with a larger car but we managed ok.
A beautiful perch over the city of Nelson, lovely kitchen, bed very comfortable, great TV room downstairs, spa (for spa users, not us so can't testify), wee sauna in the garage. Well equipped. Approach this house from Cleveland Terrace for easier access, also go down drive marked 15 and the marker for 17 appears, hard to spot from the fork in the road. Also, smaller cars perhaps better suited, unless you're a skilled driver, turning area is limited. That said, we loved our stay here.
The property was great - perfect for 3 friends. Very clean and comfortable beds. The access driveway was a bit of a surprise. Itâs very narrow and not much lighting at night. But we were very happy with the property and would stay again.
Relaxing, convenient to central city, awesome views
Both adults and teens enjoyed their stay here. A lovely spacious place for living in plus plenty of outdoor space to enjoy the stunning views over Nelson too. The kitchen was well equipped and bedrooms comfortable. Nervous drivers might find access a little daunting as cars can't pass in opposite directions for most of the final part of the roadway but not a lot of traffic happens and it is an easy walk to the central city so the car is not essential all the time.
Lovely property in quiet location with great views
The property is very well appointed with fantastic views over Nelson. The rooms were all well proportioned with great facilities throughout.
It is in a lovely quiet location, maybe a 15 minute walk in to Nelson centre.
The property managers were excellent. Very prompt with responses to questions, and accommodating given some uncertainty around our booking and Covid lockdown.
I can't stress enough how helpful they all were.
Certainly a place we would stay at again.
We were well pleased with the renting process. Questions answered in 12 hours. Modern place on hill facing North. Well appointed and clean. About 12 stairs total to bedrooms and bathrooms. Living area 6 steps less. Kitchen well appointed and bathrooms spacious. Only minor complaint was no paper towels and only one tea towel and cleaning sponge and very little dishwasher soap
