The house is an older home but had all the important things you need to have a lovely stay in New Buffalo, MI. It was a group of us friends and family that stayed. The house was spacious, the location was perfect, being close to the downtown area but in a nice quiet neighborhood. It was literally right on the beach. It had a hot tub we could use when it was rainy or cold outside. The property management were very responsive when we had questions.
The only thing I would say is that the hot tub would stop heating up at times because the voltage it was on is too low for a hot tub. We had to have people come up to take a look at it and thatâs what they confirmed. It meant we couldnât use it for more than 2 hours at a time before it became more like pool water temps.
Otherwise we had a lot of fun and enjoyed our stay!
location of this property is fantastic! Its an upscale street with many beautiful homes & a fantastic private beach. Check in was easy. We were even able to get into the home a little early which was appreciated since it was our sons birthday & one of the nicest days of our three night stay. This home though was not exactly as portrayed through the photos on the listing. When we entered the home we were greeted by a musty smell that seemed like maybe the home had not been used or opened up in a while. Everything in the home could use some updating from the windows to the flooring. The kids were excited to get to the beach right away. private beach was fantastic however the brush on the dune is getting tall enough that its starting to obstruct the water views. The stairs going down to the lake were scary! two of the steps were loose and not even attached on one side. lounge chairs at the beach were broken & in very rough condition. The beach was extremely dirty & could use a good raking to clean up all the debris & trash that has accumulated. We found everything down there from a boat chair to broken beach toys to lighters & even rusty bottle caps & reading glasses. The kids did enjoy the waves having a beach so close. We used the hot tub. It was a nice addition. The heating unit did not keep up very well with the cooler temperatures however the kids still enjoyed using it. bunk bed was in serious need of repair. wooden slats that are braces for the mattresses are loose & do not fit appropriately. We did not feel safe having any of the children sleeping on the top bunk. Not having a master bath was a bummer but there is a full bath on main floor & lower level. The fan in the main floor bath is very loud and needs some attention and the toilet plunger sticks at times & you need to jiggle the handle to get it to stop running. other beds were all very comfortable. The convenience of a washer/dryer is always great in a rental, we did notice that when the washing machine was running that water backed up into a large puddle in the backyard. Any time we came back from the beach we would spray our feet off at the spicket by the hot tub & a terrible sulfur smell came from the water. That was the only place the water smelled tho, showers & sinks were fine. Kitchen appliances all worked well. Tv remote had no batteries but luckily we had brought some. Only 2 tvs in the house. Overall great location but needs tlc, prob would not rent this home again.
Everything went smoothly except for the 2 days the power went out in all of New Buffalo
Pros- great secluded neighborhood and private beach. Nice clean house. Nice hot tub, patio and yard. Gorgeous sunsets! Proximity to marina and downtown New Buffalo.
Cons- drive way needs to be paved. Too bumpy.
The property was amazing and the management company was so attentive and responsive. What a beautiful property, if you just need some R & R and want to have great time with your family this is the place!
