It was a nice hotel and clean with daily housekeeping. Our first night someone with room key tried to come in our room at 1 a.m. We had doors double locked and that is what kept them out. We went to front desk and they said, oh sorry there was a glitch in system. When we checked out days later, I reported incident again and they said Oh that is when all of us were training. To me, those were not acceptable comments for resolving a problem that was this serious.

This was my 3rd stay at The New Yorker. It's a popular choice for many reasons but mainly because it's walkable to many destinations in the city and if not, the subway is either across W34th at Penn Station or down 8th at Herald Square. My room - particularly the bed - was very comfortable and had everything I needed. I'd only suggest that a review be given to update it - another outlet, smaller desk, mounted TV - would help make the room more spacious and contemporary. Otherwise, you can't go wrong with a hotel that gets it so right.

This property has been a historically significant location for many years. You can tell that at one time it was the hub of social activity for people visiting New York, but it has not been reinvested in for years. It is showing its age with its decor and upkeep, but its location keeps it viable. The staff are all wonderful.

I love the hotel for is Corina, old school, as some consider outdated, feature around the hotel. For example, it has four knobs in the bathtub area for water control of hot and cold temp. Nostalgic,. Hotel lobby with the decor that brings you back to the 50s to the 60s era. Like it or hate it Depends on your taste. The night staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

Resort fee but no resort, keys don't work.

The New Yorker is highly overpriced for what you get as a guest. First off, there's a long line to register, and it's not because it's so popular: it's mismanaged and understaffed. Next, as we registered we were told there is a resort fee and "we don't need to have a resort to charge a resort fee" The keys repeatedly didn't work and I have to wait for the night manager t finally resolve this. We were also told the keys were subject to getting demagnetized by simply being near electronics, metal detectors, credit cards, etc. So basically, in NYC its practically guaranteed to get demagnetized. As for the rooms: TINY and UNOPTIMIZED. If you're going to make a room tiny, at least make it so its functional. This is an old outdated hotel that is way overdue for upgrades. Will not come back again if I can avoid it.

Disappointing hidden rip off tax dodge

Where do I start? 1. I will never stay here again whilst the "Facility fee" (for elements which are normally part of the price and which I don't use such as a business centre, calls from the room and the gym) is in place. 2. I like to know how much I'm paying and not have to pay extra when I arrive at the hotel as a tax dodge. 3. I do not like seeing great staff being put in an awkward position because of this practice. 4. My upgrade was to a room with a view of another room and no bath. 5. The staff are friendly, helpfull and professional.

Dirty room. Some of the light doesn’t work. Clogged sink with debris floating. Room feels like a jail cell. Door man stand next to the door and watches you open it yourself. No hello or goodbye. Security constantly ask to see your room key when you step outside for a 5 minute smoke break. They literally stare you down. Diner food is not worth the price they charge, subpar service. New Yorker Hotel is up there with one of the worst hotels I’ve been to.

Love the central location. Close to Penn Station for all trains. Walking distance to Times Square, as well as to the High Line at Hudson Yards. Security at the entrance to the elevators is a plus. The Tic Toc 24 hr restaurant is not only convenient but has great food.
