Online photos need to be updated to represent the place. The dorm space could be a bit cleaner.
The bed was fine and sheets/towel were clean. I had a good nights sleep!
The host was a nice guy as was the guy who checked me in.
An overall great place to stay if you like affordable, rustic, simple place to sleep while enjoying Playa Palada and Guiones!
If you want the best accommodation in Costa Rica then stay here. They were so friendly and kind. And the place itself was paradise in the trees. We loved our stay and wish we could have stayed longer. Donât hesitate to stay here because they are wonderful people providing a wonderful stay.
Honestly, I'm not sure where to start. It was basically an abandoned old building on a lonely 4x4 mud road in upper Nosara. No reception or hostel staff there on a regular schedule, just random visits. Water in bathrooms and kitchen was not working. Mattresses were in terrible shape with dust, dirt, black mould. I know it's not easy to keep them in good shape in the humid air, and I'm used to rough sleeping, but this was bad. The walls had several larges holes as well for insects and other critters to get in. Two ceiling fans in working condition, but with possible mould on them too that seemed to have spread onto the top bunk mattresses.
With the very lonely setting, safety concerns as well. There are sometimes very few other guests (if any) and there is no staff on site overnight.
I loved having a kitchen to cook in and have the pool for chilling at. Easy walk to the beach and made me feel like a local. Things were pretty worn out around the place and could use some maintenance. The internet was an issue at times which made it hard for me to do my remote working but other than that, I was really stoked on the place and would be back.
I stayed in the top floor which has a fun tree house feel. Itâs very rustic and boarder-line holding together with many things not working reliably (water included). So if you do stay in this room be prepared to think of it more like camping/glamping in a tree house than an actual hotel. That goes for dealing with bugs, so use common sense about that too.
Importantly the air con does work. The host is laissez faire to say the least so donât wait around or rely on him. Nosara is a boujie/pricey place, so this is what you get at that price. People expecting industry standard hospitality are going to be disappointed.
If youâre looking for an affordable place to base yourself in Nosara for a bit and donât mind the surf shack lifestyle it works if youâre prepared for it.
