Made very welcome by the reception staff and then later by the restaurant staff . Excellent room with all the usual facilities. Great Hotel handy for the Theatre Royal . Keep up the good work . Only negative side at breakfast no waiting staff to serve tea and coffee . The machine alternative is a poor substitute with many guests struggling to operate the drinks vending machine .

Toilet seat was dirty and the shower bath tap was faulty. This was sorted quickly after we mentioned it to reception. A fire alarm sounded around 0545 on the last day of our stay and carried on going on and off intermittently. We rang reception who initially said it was a false alarm caused by young kids messing about, but a continuous alarm sounded at about 0600 which caused us to evacuate our room. A senior staff member said that an investigation into the event was underway and anyone who wanted breakfast or had to pay for parking would not have to pay as a gesture of goodwill. Unfortunately when I asked about this later at reception I was unable to get a refund as I had paid my bill on arrival! However I did appreciate the gesture. My wife and I stay here when we visit relatives as it is very clean and convenient with a great breakfast and attached car park which is a bonus in the city centre.

There was a knocking noise from the ceiling in room 412. It happenened 90% of the time we wete there, so consiquently disturbed our sleep both nights, it sounded like air in pipes. Did not ask to move rooms due to hotel beeing busy and only having smaller rooms available

It’s very tired and smells of damp. At the weekends, even when paying for an upgrade, you are faced with loud music from the nightclub over the road. The air conditioning was broken and locked on a low setting so we were freezing all night. The bed was hard and the executive lounge is like a teachers meeting room. Just not worth the money.
