Door would not lock from the inside. The door handle itself on the inside was loose and would not lock. It looked like it had been kicked in at some point and was destroyed by a dog. No Shades on.the.window that would prevent anyone from seeing in. The stairs leading up to the room are literally ready to colapse. Not a good look for VRBO and we've stayed at many. Very disappointed and they are saying we will not be refunded, which i will fight with my cc company. We ended up having to book a different place at midnight, because i wasn't goimg to sleep in a place where the door would not lock.
We had a great 4th of July weekend. Prime location and perfect amount of space for our stay. Clean and comfortable, parking was huge win. Beach just across the street made each day hassle free. So many food options close by and of course the old orchard fair just blocks away.
Left a day early due to the following: outdoor chairs unable to sit in as they were extremely poor condition, unkept property, futon in poor condition with no place for an adult to relax except to lay on bed, mold on shower curtain,
If there was a better description of the listing online, I would not have selected this residence for our trip. In addition to steep, uneven stairs to enter the property, there is a train track right behind it. Trains run all night and it shakes the property. They are loud and frequent - we heard and felt at least 8 trains overnight.
The property was not clean upon check in, either - there was food in/around the sink, toothpaste left on the bathroom mirror, trash on the floor, and dirt/grime on the bathroom sink, toilet, tub, and stove.
There is also ONE towel for the entire residence - including the kitchen. The listing says towels provided, but the host never responded to me when I asked for additional towels. The bathroom floor was very slippery when exiting the shower because there was no towel. We had to use and share one towel as a family of three for everything.
I have attempted to resolve this issue with the host and have not received any communication back. I asked for a refund of our cleaning fee because the property was not cleaned prior to our arrival.
In general Old Orchard Beach is NOT family friendly. I would not recommend bringing your young children here. I also do not recommend this property or this host due to lack of honesty and communication.
Dilapidated building. Bed took up almost entire room. Had to crawl over spouse to get to bathroom. The train felt like it was coming into the room. The whole building so neglected. Overgrown grass. Positive was laundry. We checked out 2 days early.
Do NOT stay here or anywhere else that this property company rents, not only did they not mention the train that goes by and shakes the whole place ALL NIGHT But the complex looks like it's in the middle of a crack house area the inside is a complete dump not only that what's worse is the host will make false accusations about you try to overcharge you then claim that they have photographic proof of their claims which is a complete violation of your privacy and now I'm left wondering if they have explicit photos of myself which is disgusting and really violating after the host has claimed to be willing to take these photographs to the authorities, So, I am now going to go forward with a formal complaint and request for a refund and possible legal action if necessary because of this disgusting PIG. and his terrible rental. If you are a young female do not stay at this property or any other property listed under the rental company's name it's a sham and a trap and possibly a violation of your privacy. Who knows what he does with these photos that he claims he has.
This was a great place for my husband and I. It is good for 2 people. It is a block to the ocean where there are 7 miles of beach to walk on. There are gift stores, restaurants and a Walgreens close byâŠwalking distance. Only a 30-35min drive to Portland. The kitchen is small but functional. The bed is very comfortable.
There is a train track right behind the building and trains do blast their horns on the way by. It was 1-3 times a night while we were there. If you turn on the AC or fan it helps.
The place and location were great for us and we would stay again.
Really close to the beach! Convenience store directly across the street.
Some things that could be betterâŠbathroom is old and appears dirty. The stairs going up are uneven. The chairs outside on the deck were peeling so bad you couldnât sit on them. Wifi was TERRIBLE. Hard to send emails, my kids couldnât be on their phones and watching a movie on Netflix or any platform was nearly impossible as it kept stopping and kicking you off the app.
Over all it was good, bathroom was off bedroom, not convenient for other guest staying on futon in living room. Backyard for dogs was very small, but enough space for the pups to do their duty. In all it worked for the few days we were there!
This was a great location next to the beach with easy parking. I would say is this place is great for a single person or a couple. There is a futon to use but its not the most comfortable. We stayed for a couple nights, which was a perfect amount of time. Our stay was during off season but I could see this being a perfect place to stay during on season.
Only complaint is the train...be prepared, it will wake you up in the middle of the night as it passes by shaking the entire place, no joke. Besides that, was a good little place to stay, would recommend. :)
The info we were given to get the keys did not work. We called and emailed and used the app to get this info and finally got someone one the phone who gave me several different combinations to try. He didn't know which one would work. The staircase to get up is in severe disrepair, full of splinters and hasn't been painted in years. Very unsafe and steep. A dog began barking and didn't stop and it was right next door to this room. Once inside it only took us 5 minutes to decide that it was impossible to stay there. It was dirty, the AC did not cool you down unless you stood in front of it. The bathroom is tiny. The 2nd bed in the living room is a 2" thick futon and there were no blankets/pillows available to use to even use this, but it was so hot inside the apartment that it would have been impossible to sleep in there, even if there were blankets. There was a broken broomstick used to "lock' the sliding glass windows. There were no screens on the windows. We only stayed about 10 minutes, which was long enough to find another place to stay, as it was impossible to stay there in the heat, with the dog and all of the other issues. The WiFi also barely worked, and we had to rely on data to find a nearby hotel to escape to. I spoke to VRBO that day to get a refund, and they said they would do it, and I even received a confirmation number for this. But they did not issue the refund. I had the charge removed from my credit card, but VRBO fought it and put it back on. I will not use VRBO again (they are impossible to get a hold of) and certainly will avoid this place at all costs. Stay away.
We rented the property for 5 days/4 nights. Conveniently located to the pier area and the the beach. Even though the train is located close to the property, we rarely noticed it passing by.
The property was clean, right in the middle of down town by the pier. It was a plus that we got to take our dogs. Only thing is the train run behind the building.
