I feel it’s important to warn others to be extremely cautious before booking this hotel, as I found the advertising and photographs to be highly misleading.
The images online bear little resemblance to the current condition of the property. The hotel is clearly undergoing refurbishment, but this is not reflected in the marketing. Guests should expect to stay in what feels like an active building site, with carpets half ripped up, paint on carpets and plug sockets, visible iron burn marks, and refurbishment work that appears unfinished. Even the areas that have been redecorated were completed to a poor standard and do not justify the premium prices being charged.
The exterior was equally disappointing, with what appeared to be months’ worth of rubbish or possible fly-tipping in the car park, creating a very poor first impression.
The room itself lacked basic conveniences, including properly positioned plug sockets, mirrors, and an iron, making even simple tasks frustrating. Breakfast was also extremely poor and, unfortunately, inedible.
It’s such a shame because this is a beautiful village, but this hotel falls far short of the expectations created by its advertising. Until the refurbishment is genuinely complete and accurately represented online, I would strongly recommend booking elsewhere. In my opinion, the Mercure next door offers far better value and a much more honest representation of what you’re paying for.
Please be very cautious
