We like the place for one night, a stop between Astoria and North Bend; good surprise for being close to Rainier National Park with easy trails around. Shall come back for a longer stay.
She was able to get me checked into my room early. They did have a soda machine I was not sure was out of order but I got refunded my quarters. Great place to stay, very nice.
An otherwise decent experience sullied by an extremely rude staff member at check in.
The hotel had charged my card prior to arrival, which is normal and fine by me. But at check in, staff member âAgâ claimed that there was a state law that required my credit card to have printed numbers on it. I travel often, including in Washington state, and always using this credit card, and this is the first time Iâm hearing of such a law. Iâm happy for the property to point me to the law, but I suspect it just has antiquated processes.
The staff member refused to view the credit card number available on my bank app, which would have matched what she saw in her records. Instead, she insisted that she would refund the card and would need a payment card with the number printed.
Throughout this process, I was clarifying with her and asking about how my card would be refunded, and what alternative form of payment would be accepted. She was defensive and stated that we could âtake our business elsewhereâ. At one point she raised her voice and said loudly âdonât talk back to meâ - ironic, given that she was cutting me off at various points and well, talking back to me.
I donât have high expectations of service. But I do expect to be treated with a basic level of respect as a paying customer. I also expect hotels to update their processes, and not give excuses like âitâs the lawâ when thatâs not the case.
AVOID AT ALL COST OF TRAVELING WITH KIDS (and maybe also without?).
We checked in at 8:30pm. The person working reception was too âbusyâ to bother herself to show up, then was angry that we ringed the bell.
Told us 3 times not to leave the kids unattended. Yelled at my kid for touching a key card return box that was empty.
After getting to our room, I went back to the car to bring in the luggage.
Apparently our baby was crying, so she came to our room to tell me wife that if the baby wonât be quiet stop crying, sheâll need us to leave the hotel. Mind you, that was past 9pm and the crying lasted for MAYBE 2 minutes.
WILL NEVER SET FOOT IN THE PLACE AGAIN.
As for the rooms, we got the suite. While it was renovated and beds were ok, there are no curtains. Street light floods the room throughout the night and your morning will most likely start at 6am when the sun is up.
The âGO AWAYâ bear in our room perfectly captures the vibe of this place.
