Above, the Skaha Bluffs, below in the middle distance Skaha Lake and the hills to its west, all around a vineyard and rolling lawns on the gentle west-facing slope. At the centre, a 100 year old log cabin, windows and views everywhere. The cabin has been beautifully restored, furnished and equipped, and recently a new wing skillfully added providing a glorious master bedroom.
Not easy to list or to rank all the attractions of this jewel of the Okanagan Valley. Location, location, location, the cabin, and, especially, the owners, Claire and Fritz. Claire was away during our stay and Fritz was a wonderful host: very welcoming and hospitable; strongly connected to the land, the garden, the vines, and to the entire Valley; and very happy to talk with us about the amazing history of his and Claireâs settlement and development of the property.
When we travel and stay awhile in one place, we like to rent a house. This late September visit to the Okanagan was to taste and purchase some of the wines from several of the newly established producers. This was hugely enjoyable, as was our stay amidst Claire and Fritzâs vines. A great place and great hosts. Weâll be back. Try it!
