I did not realize when I booked the hotel that it was not beachfront. Though it is just located behind Riu Yucatan, the photos online are most of the Yucatan not the Tequila. Your stay at the Tequila does include the Yucatan beach and pool access s well as lunchtime buffet and all the poolside bars. Having said that, there is a golf cart shuttle that runs throughout the day where you can be at the beach in about one minute. Or you can take a 5 to 10 minute walk from the lobby and be over at the Yucatán where you have access to everything except the restaurants. I have to say the staff was very efficient, friendly, and always available at all the restaurants, poolside and bar keeping everything clean with friendly prompt service. Pool temp was great. Food was above average. If you stay all day at the Tequila everything is a 3-5 minute walk away no matter where you are. The only reason this won’t be our go to resort is the amount of kids. It’s a wonderful resort but for our preference there were far too many kids. We did love our stay tho!

It was a nice hotel and some staff super friendly but we experienced some unfair racism involving my 11 year old daughter that I will never be ok with! 2 white children were shown favor over my brown skinned baby and it broke my heart to pieces

The facilities were nice and clean. Staff was very friendly. Food and entertainment was very good. I was glad to see that we doesn’t need reservations for the special restaurants. The walk to the beach is very short and I didn’t mind getting some steps. The beach is amazing! There were always chairs and shaded spots available.

The staff were all very nice. There’s was plenty of options at the Buffet and the food was really good. Hotel is small but perfect. I also loved that you can walk right across the street to Riu Yucatán (maybe 5 minute walk) and go to the beach and use pool and restaurants there too.

I would have to say that the resort just felt a little tired and hung over. The staff was friendly and very hard working but it’s as if the best days behind the tequilla and playacar are behind them. The a la cartes were very disappointing actually. The pools at the riu were clean and had ample chairs which was nice. The beach was excellent and easy to access. Playacar is a safe and quiet community. Over all…just ok. Usually i can’t wait to rebook but for an odd reason I’m not excited to go back.
