My Wife and I take a trip to Vermont every winter. This year we had our new 4 legged friend with us. Woodward Grove was a great place to stay. We liked having the woodstove going and the vinyl spinning. Also help we had the best ski conditions at Killington in years. Thanks for the stay!
The house was extremely cold! The common areas never got above 61 degrees. The thermostat was unreadable and the customer service representative advised me to get new batteries, which I did at my own expense. That made the thermostat readable, but it did not increase the temperature at all. We had to wear jackets, hats, and gloves indoors to stay warm. I was in touch with customer service three times about this issue and someone dropped off three small space heaters, one of which immediately blew a fuse in the house so there was no electricity in part of the house until we figured out where the fuse box was. Even making a fire in the wood stove fireplace (no wood was provided so we had to buy it) did not warm the room sufficiently. It was extremely uncomfortable and it was an overall miserable experience for us. On top of everything else, the house was also quite dirty. The kitchen cabinets were dirty, the floors were dusty, and there was a sticky spot on the coffee table that had dog hair stuck on it! It was the worst rental property experience that I have ever had!
I could actually write my name in the dust on the furniture. The kitchen needs a new coffee maker, can opener and cups. The pantry had open spice containers exposed to the elements. I cleaned out open food items that were also exposed. The sink and fridge was dirty. I did not enjoy cleaning house when I got there!
Quarry across the street added floating noise from 8am to 4pm. Otherwise very tranquil. Ageing property needs TLC. Overall a good value in the cash cow vrbo business. Appreciate able to bring dog. Beautiful thunder falls down the street.
We loved the location of the cabin, it was in the woods while still being close to Killington for skiing. Our biggest problem was the lack of lighting in the dining area. There was only a single light that pointed at the fireplace and there was no other light in that are. We had to bring a table lamp and plug it in beside the table to get enough light to eat and play car games. There was also a lack of lights in the bedrooms and there was very few outlets. Also, the entire porch railing was broken and had fallen off, making it a real hazard out there so we didnât get to utilize the porch at all. There also wasnât any tools for the fireplace, such as a glove for the hot handle or a shovel to shovel the ashes out (even though you were required to do that before you left). There definitely were mice present, but we didnât really mind. We just made sure to keep all food stored in the microwave or in a bin and we didnât have any problems. Otherwise we enjoyed our stay!
There were mice and mice droppings all over. Had some visit the kitchen counter after cooking and watched them scurry down behind the oven. Every morning we woke up to the sound of them in the walls and fresh mice droppings on the counters! Not to mention the amount of droppings there were in the lower kitchen cabinets. Iâve stayed in more run down ski cabins in the woods that didnât have a rodent issue like this. Only giving this two stars because of the great location and what could be a lovely rustic cabin if it were cleaned up. Also should provide some fireplace tools if youâre gonna have a fireplace.
When we arrived at the home, it was filthy. There was rust in the refrigerator trash in the couch dust everywhere. There were so much dust on the ceiling fan. If we turned it on, it wouldâve flown everywhere. We did not even unpack our belongings. We drove to the center of South Woodstock and rented a hotel. I would never recommend this home to anyone. I have pictures to back up everything and plan on sharing them so that people are aware before they rent. There is Wi-Fi, but the signal is so weak. You cannot do much with it! Huge disappointment and very stressful to have to find someplace else to stay when there was very little availability!
My husband and I very much enjoyed our stay. It is very private and had a beautiful view. It snowed the first two days of our visit and made the view even more beautiful.
Perfect place to meet best friends at midway point. We had a BLAST with the turntable and albums. Wish there had been firewood. Comfortable and everything we needed.
If you are looking to get away from city life this is the perfect escape. Small but quaint cabin. We loved all the large windows and the fact we could go for a walk for our dog and never have to worry about other people or cars. This really ilwas the perfect escape and if we needed anything the city was the perfect distance away. I would recommend thus to any of my friends and family.
