From our first communication, during the booking process and throughout our stay, communication with Lisa was excellent. Her responses were extremely prompt and her manner was enthusiastic and warm. The photos and description of the house are all accurate..
This was our 4th visit to the cape, but the first time in winter. Being from the North, we were looking for a place to relax and enjoy some warmer temperatures. Even though Florida was experiencing a few days of record cold during our stay, it didn’t bother us a bit. The house was snug and warm and we enjoyed cooking in most days. The kitchen was well equipped with all new appliances and everything was in perfect working order. We ate at Pepper’s Mexican Grill in Port Saint Joe one evening and enjoyed a bucket of Shrimp Boil from Skully’s Low Country Boil just down the road on the cape - delicious!
In our opinion, the very best feature of the house is it’s location. Being just a few houses from the State Park provides the quiet and solitude we appreciate. It’s almost like having your own private beach. So when it was too cold to be outside, we enjoyed the unobstructed gulf views from all living spaces and our master bedroom.
When the temperatures were warm enough my husband enjoyed fishing while I enjoyed long walks on the beach hunting for shells. We walked 5 miles toward the end of the cape and loved the wild views with dunes on one side and the gulf on the other. We saw dauphins on a few occasions and enjoyed watching the birds dive for fish.
The house has high ceilings and is very open and would accommodate a large family easily. My husband and I were alone except for 3 nights when my cousin and her husband joined us.
It sounds cliche, but it’s true……the only negative was that we didn’t book for longer. We highly recommend a stay at the Surfin Turtle!
