Wonderful hotel

Great front desk staff. Rooms nice/beds very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious. Cannot beat location. Spa treatments excellent but the spa receptionist was full of herself and unwelcoming

On a family road trip through New England we had a one night stay in Portland. We love staying in boutique hotels and we’re looking forward to staying at the Portland Regency. Checkin was great. The valet & front desk were very helpful. It went downhill from there quick. We booked at double deluxe and I should have read the description more closely, but no one uses double beds anymore, right? Wrong. I understand why they do though. The rooms are too small for queens. The bed size is on me, but the fact that they’re very old is not. None of us slept well that night. Let’s move on to the bathroom. It needs a complete overhaul. It still has the timed heat lamp and I can’t remember the last time I saw one of those. The shower curtain was stained. Rust on the metal surfaces. Gotta say, it was clean though. Wish I could have said the same about the room’s carpet. So many stains, I don’t know if they’re from the coffee maker or previous pets but damn they need to go with the bath. Now let’s talk about the smell. OMG the smell. My husband was convinced it was because it was an old building but that logic didn’t hold when the smell only existed in our room. There were deliberations over what the smell was. Pet urine? Locker room smell? Stinky feet? Bad cheese? It was awful and I would have found another hotel in town had we been in Portland another night. Would not go back.

From the minute we pullednin the staff were kind and very helpful. We loved the garden cafe accros from the hotel, its part of it. Great food and drinks. Staff again were so friendly. Above and beyound staff. Were kocals and had a night away, and it was so worth it.

The people were nice, everything was too expensive, including the room, which had no pictures in it and was rather bland. It was expensive for bare bones. Location was definitely very good, but beyond that not worth the money.

Very close to shops and restaurants. Stayed in rm 215 and had a loud humming noise all night. Also the cleaning spray used by hotel was very strong and not good for peole with allergies and scent sensitivities

Perfect location
