The room was very small and dingy. It had a high mattress with no step stool to get to it. A bedside lamp did not work. The bathroom had a door with a piece of wood wedged under it to keep it open. The shower had no safety bar which made taking a shower a bit scary (a lawsuit waiting to happen) The breakfasts were very ordinary. Having been to many b&bâs I expect from scratch baked goods with elegant breakfast casseroles. We got one measly piece of toast with scrambled eggs. There was a happy hour with wine, a nice touch, but served in plastic cups. Paper napkins were used in the dining room.We found the usual request for tips for the cleaning staff even though the room was not made up or cleaned while we were there. They even asked for tips for the âchefâ. That was a first for us. The exterior of the house is elegant but very misleading. The owner told us that we should have booked directly with him and we would have gotten a better deal. How would we know that? I clicked on the name of the place and was sent to Expedia.
Beautiful inside the room bed was very comfortable.
Staff was very helpful and pleasant.
Breakfast time is limited although they try to be very accommodating.
Access to getting in was tricky on arrival but once we checked in side door was accessible.
Tv only had 1 channel
This is an incredible experience. Itâs a step back in time with a homey inviting atmosphere but maintaining the grandeur and integrity of the mansion. Andy is a great host. He is attentive and informative. And the French toast breakfast was to die for!
Interesting architecture. No heat, no wood for fireplace. Had to call owner who left the premises. Had to get our own wood. We were the only ones there. Our wedding night. Owner kept saying we were upgraded. Had the worst room in the place. Tiny bathroom, sink is in bedroom, only trickling water. Breakfast was 2 slices of French toast and 2 dry sausages, tea or coffee and juice. Was not prepared for guests.
This is a hidden jewel, a beautifully kept mansion in a quiet and safe neighborhood. The breakfast is delicious! Classic music plays throughout the house the entire day, making it relaxing and welcoming.
I would change the information on the website, however. We expected the room to be cleaned everyday and apparently they stopped doing this due to Covid.
Lovely historic history. My eyes couldnât stay still because there was so much to see! I had a very strong heater in my room so I was able to make it nice and cozy. The tub was amazing and easily fit two humans. The hot water was HOTTTT and melty away my troubles. Andy, the owner, was extremely friendly and welcoming. The breakfasts were deeeeelicious. I highly recommend if youâre looking for somewhere unique and quiet to stay. PLEASE CALL AHEAD TO GET INFO ON CHECKING IN!!!
The service was horrible. We paid for a room with a fireplace. It didnât work. They said they would look at it after we left. There was nobody there to greet us and the person on the phone was extremely rude.
It was like a time capsule! I wanted to look at every charming nook and cranny. We enjoyed seeing all the rooms( we peeked) and we loved our room with the double spa tub, bring your Mr. Bubble. Breakfast was delightful and Sherry was so warm and welcoming. This was a special Valentines splurge we will not forget.
