About this property
Entire place
You'll have the entire home to yourself and will only share it with other guests in your party.
A great base point. Idylic barn in the heart of the beautiful Llŷn Peninsula.
Discounts available for singles and two people sharing one bedroom. Message the host. Please note that the access track is unsuitable for vehicles with low road clearance or those with low trims. Check with your host if you are unsure. The property is homely and relaxing for a perfect break at any time of the year from singles to families. Located in rural Rhos-fawr in the middle of the Llŷn Peninsular and within easy reach of the coast and Pwllheli town. This warm and cosy detached converted barn seems miles away from anywhere but ideally placed to explore the beautiful mountains, beaches and castles of north Wales. Be close to a variety of golf and sailing clubs. Horse riding, coastal walks and sports plus the Snowdonia national park. It's a great place to enjoy those special family gatherings too. Built amongst farmland with stunning views across the fields to the hills.
Spectacular sunsets and constantly changing sky scape can be viewed from the garden and front patio area. Don't forget to look up at the stars on a clear night. The sky above the Llyn is very dark and Pen y Maes is a great place to star gaze. Buzzards fly overhead every afternoon. Bats take flight over the cottage around dusk ( in spring and summer ) and Tawny Owls with their recognisable owl calls can be heard most nights. Wrens and other small birds often sit on the window cills. Rhosfawr is situated in the middle of the Llŷn peninsula which is an ideal base for travelling to all of the many tourists sites and beaches of north Wales including popular Abersoch, Caernarfon, Criccieth and Harlech castles and the Snowdonia national park. Nefyn beach is just 10 minutes along the road by car. In fact a 10 minutes drive in any direction will get you to the coast. May be take a boat trip to watch for whales in Wales.
Spacious bedrooms can accommodate up to six persons. Please let your host know at the booking stage if you require the super-king double bed separated into two single beds ( giving you four single beds and one double ) and if a travel cot is required.
All rooms bar the loft twin bedroom are located on the ground floor. There are various steps throughout the property as the barn was built on a slope. There is seating for six persons at the kitchen table and in the living-room. There is plenty of seating and a large oak table in the raised garden facing the setting sun. This is a lovely area to watch the sun rise behind the cottages too.
The upper twin bedroom ( divan beds with blue head-boards ) is located in the converted hay loft ( or first floor ) which is accessed via the wooden stair leading from the living-room. It has a side aspect view from a glazed door leading to the outside stair. It also has a small roof window. This room has the smallest doorway.
The double bedroom is located on the ground floor below the twin bedroom. It is accessed via a door from the living-room and down two steps. It also has a side aspect external door and view and a rear aspect window.
The super-king double/ zip and link single beds with wine coloured head-boards ) is situated on the ground floor at the opposite end of the building to the other bedrooms. It has one front facing window with light reducing roller blind. This room is next to the shower-room. This bedroom is accessed from the kitchen up one step and through the vanity area. These single beds can be connected to form one super-king double bed or visa a versa .
The upper twin bedroom is probably not suitable for children under five years of age unless your children are confident at using the stair but there is the other twin bedroom ( zip-and-link beds ) if only one double bed is required. There is also room in these lower bedrooms for the travel cot. Your host can supply cot blankets and a full size single bed sheet ( no pillow is supplied ). The travel cot is suitable for children under two years of age.
The shower-room is located on the ground floor. There is one step up from the kitchen ( as above ).
The spacious kitchen-dining room is central to the building with doors to the front and rear. The rear door is used to access the property after parking your vehicle in the rear yard ( please do not park at the front ). There is one step up from these doors into the kitchen.
Please note that most of the doors in this cottage have restricted height. These are the original height openings of the barn which have been retained for authenticity.
There is an outside tap in the car parking area to wash muddy boots etc.
POST CODE : Please note that rural post codes, such as ours, often cover a wide area. Please ONLY use the hosts directions once in the Rhos-fawr area which will be sent to you once you are a confirmed guest. It is very important to read all the information before you set off on your journey and to follow any instructions to avoid frustrating delays in reaching the cottage. Country roads are dark and are quite different to town roads. The track entrance can be missed if you are not following the host's advice.
