We were unhappy with this hotel because the hotel is being redone and the appearance is different than on the photos. The restaurant was excellent although the hotel asks for reservations for breakfast with a cost of 22 or 23 dollars per person. Once we got the breakfast menu we noticed that you could order Ala carte. Also the outside is not so quaint since the hotel is surrounded by parking lots and a gas station. The WiFi was also very spotty

We spent two nights at the Hotel Port Royal while visiting Quebec City. The hotel is beautiful and in a great location. You can easily walk to many sights, shops and restaurants. We ate breakfast both mornings at the hotel, and the food was delicious and the service was excellent. I wish we had eaten lunch or dinner there. We had a large, beautiful room with a very large bathroom. Additionally, the staff at the hotel were extremely helpful and friendly. A special shout-out to Mathilda (day shift) and Danick (evening shift) for helping us with any question or need we had. They definitely helped make our stay so delightful.

Charming hotel in a great location

We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Port Royal. This is a small hotel in an old stone building but the interior has been renovated so it combines the charm of an older building with modern conveniences. The rooms are comfortable and quiet and the staff is terrific. They are happy to speak with you in French or English. Taverne Louise, the hotel’s restaurant, is very charming and popular. They provide a nice breakfast with quality ingredients that are well prepared. If you just want something on the simpler side, I’d recommend going to a local boulangerie because there are some very good ones close by. Finally, the location is fantastic and you are just steps away from the port or old town. Overall, it’s a great place to stay.

Very nice hotel, the location is excellent. The only negative thing that I have is with the bathroom. Although it was super clean, mold has set in the bottom of the shower floor. This is not a room cleaning issue. This cannot be cleaned by the house cleaning staff. It is a management problem to deal with.
