We loved our stay at the lodge. The family room / kitchen was well equipped, the views were awesome and the rooms comfortable. The teens loved having their âownâ key to get to the exterior access rooms. We sat on the deck and watched the fly fishermen every morning and night. Location was perfect for access to Vik and the south coast. Fredrik was a wonderful host.
Wonderfully decorated house that easily fit our mixed generational family of 8 (grandma, parents, kids, aunts/uncles). Great location on south coast to do adventures from, wish we could have stayed longer to take advantage of the river and area!
I think that the owner is trying but he is in above his head. The house is advertised as a 5 bedroom, but only 3 bedrooms on the interior and the other 2 you have to access from the exterior of the property. The owner was apparently doing construction to the property and had construction supplies outside and helped himself in and out of the property the entirety of our stay...he would just walk in! He's charging over $2K a night with all the fees and we didn't have hot water in one of the showers for the entirety of the stay, we lost hot water to the entire property for a day and a half, the place is infested with spiders, the upstairs shower leaked, we're American and had no idea how to run their European dryer (zero instructions provided on how to operate the home), there are other rentals adjacent to this home and people there thought that our rental was a common area and would just walk into our place, the electrical didn't work properly (lights would hum and then turn off and on by themselves), the bathroom sinks were a nightmare with their own independent hot and cold water spouts making it impossible for warm water. I could go on and on...The location of the place is perfect and Iceland is the most beautiful country I've ever been to (expensive but gorgeous). It's obvious that the owner is not versed in guest services or what guests expect. It's a shame bc the place could be perfect with the right management.
Jakob was a great host and the house was perfect for our needs. With 5 bathrooms and multiple living areas everybody had their own space. When Jakob found out ahead of time that we had a 7-year old in our group he brought in an extra bed for her. Home looks exactly like the photos and is well-equipped.
This place was amazing. All commodities you will need for a large group of people. Great and beautiful surroundings and a good location with short drives to different sightseeingâs.
Jakob was very helpful through our entire trip.
This home is fantastic! We were a group of 9 and were more than comfortable. We extended our stay in the home by 2 days because we couldn't see ourselves transitioning to a hotel. The master bedrooms were very spacious and comfortable. There are blackout blinds for all the bedroom windows, so sleeping at "night" in the summer was not an issue at all. The 3 outer bedrooms were smaller, but more than acceptable for the teens in our group. Each room had a full bathroom. If your're a fly fisherman, you could probaly cast into the Ranga river from the porch. The backyard views are just spectacular.
The hosts were so accomadating and quicj to respond to all requests....we were running late from a tour and they bought us pasta and sauce to cook upon our return. I can't find a fault with anything with this home. I'd buy it myself if I could.
There's a bakery close by that offers nice options for breakfast. There are a couple restaurants nearby as well. The host arranged for a chef to cook us dinner one night that was just fantastic....fresh salmon from the river!! We hope to return to see the Northern Lights and will definitely revisit with this Luxa Lodge!! Highest recomendation!!!
Great experience in this dream house right on a salmon river with an awesome view of all the glaciers. The best experience we have ever had with a vrbo rental in years of travelling! Thanks to Jacob and his lovely wife.
