I’m not sure what to call the “room” we were given. Room feels generous. It was more like a makeshift hideout tucked into the eaves of the building — cramped, dark, and honestly comparable to a prison cell… though to be fair, most cells probably get more natural light. Things went further downhill at dinner. I ordered a vegetarian meal and was served a dish containing more chicken breast than a Nando’s family platter. We complained, they whisked it away, and proudly returned with a “fresh” vegetarian dish — except they’d literally just picked the chicken out and forgotten a bit. Cue round two of “spot the bird.” After pointing it out again, the plate mysteriously reappeared minus the final piece of chicken. Magical. This was, without question, the worst experience we’ve ever had at a De Vere hotel. And the saddest part? This was our fifth visit. We used to love this place. But after the prison loft and the chicken salad that refused to die, it’s safe to say this will likely be our last.

I stayed in the mansion house, one night stay for work, food was great, excellent service, breakfast was lovely, lovely greeting by staff despite the early hour. Room was amazing, very quiet, gorgeous decor, my only gripe and its petty, the standby button didnt work on the tv remote, you could use it to turn tv on, but it wouldnt turn the tv off for some reason, no way to set sleep timer. It is now my new goto place to stay when i have to go to head office.

A bit conflicted. 5 star breakfast in 3 star hotel. Room was shabby and dirty. Room was really far away from main part of hotel and I'd no clue where anything was in relation to everything else. But the choice, quality and setting of breakfast was EXCEPTIONAL!

Great value for Money

The breakfast was fabulous and really made our visit amazing value for money. Overall we felt it was a good value for money trip. The pool and a few other bits need some love, but the price for the stay does reflect that. We will be back
