The rental was not what we expected, but we had an excellent time. The beds are clean and comfortable. There is only 1 bathroom and you walk into one of the bedrooms to get to it, but with 8 people we made due. The washer and dryer are outside, but are new and work well. The rental is close to Avenue of the Giants and about 30 minutes from the coast. We had a blast staying here.
The house was okay. The beds were comfortable. The house was clean enough. I didn't feel the couch was very clean. We knew in advance that we would have to walk through a bedroom to reach the bathroom, and that the living room also had a bed in it and counted as one of the bedrooms. I was surprised to see the washer and dryer outside, but I was happy to be able to run a load through. The owner was pretty easy to communicate with. The house was older, and the yard was very unkempt, but it suited our needs. There were no checkout instructions, but we did the basics. The location was very close to Avenue of the Giants, which was exactly what we needed.
This is a great location. The amenities are very basic; everything you need is provided in the most economical fashion possible. If you're looking for creature comforts and nice decor, you will not find it here. The surrounding area does not offer nice restaurants or shopping. But if you just need to be close to the State Forest/Avenue of Giants, this is a great location.
This was a good place to stay but the smell was really bad. Kind of an old lady urine smell. Other than that everything else was fine. The queen beds are actually full size not queen.
We were really able to relax and share family time for a Christmas meet-up. The house was comfortable for us all (including beds). The decor was simple (not boring), neutral and calming/peaceful. A great backdrop for the Christmas decor I brought along! The main issue we had was trouble with the oven. Just donât count on roasting for your meals!Other reviewers had trouble with the king bed being in the livingroom - donât put anyone in there who will expect it to be private! We had no trouble with this. (Nor the person who, goes to bed early!) Another complaint was regarding the view. Agree it was less dramatic than in the ad, but other than one neighbors roof, we were content to gaze at the moss covered trees, and the hill beyond. (If you look at a map, itâs apparent that the house is in a residential neighborhood). We would certainly rent this property again if the need arose!
It worked well for a quick stop over in the avenue of the giants. Beds were very comfortable and the house was clean. It would be nice to have a small vanity elsewhere in the house so someone can be getting ready while others use the bathroom.
The house was totally sufficient for our family needs! One bedroom is actually the living room as well, but suited the stay just fine. Make sure you look in all cabinets to find hand and dish towels because they were not left out. All in all, an easy place to stay in Southern Humboldt!
I stayed her with my daughter and grandkids for a week while work was being done to my house. I love the layout, it was very comfortable. I'm a local so it was nice to have friends come over for dinner, just as if I was in my own home. The location is great too, I could walk to anywhere in town.
I stayed with daughter and grandkids here for a week while our house was getting worked on. I love the layout of the house, very spacious! I'm local, so it was nice to have a couple friends come by for dinner, as if I was at my own home. Very comfortable, and I could walk to anywhere in town.
There is no air conditioning. There was a heat advisory for the area and we were told to open the windows and use fans. Or to drive an hour away to spend the day in a cooler area. The yard was unkept. The views that were listed were not the actual views. We had a view of the neighbors wood furnace, solar panels and shed. This not in the middle of the downtown area or within walking distance to eating establishments. Our stay was supposed to be for 3 nights but we left after one. It also states that this is a 4 bedroom. Itâs a 3 bedroom with a 4th bed in the living room. B
Comfortable old house. It worked perfectly for our family to come together. Having one bathroom brought many funny memories (4 girls, 1 boy) and it proved you can survive without multiple bathrooms The open layout easily accommodated 30 family members coming together to share memories and communal dinner. The children had plenty of room outside for play. A perfect weekend. Close to services and redwoods park. I was looking for clean and comfortable and that is exactly what we got. Thank you.
Great little house for the area, so many trees in Redway, awesome! Home did not have a living area, but plenty of clean beds. Internet could use some help, but may be the area and all the trees blocking service.
We loved it...Right in the heart of the trees and the home was tranquil and quiet. The windows opened up to reveal all the verdant greenery of the forest. And it's such quick and easy access to the Avenue of Giants. Our hostess was both gracious, friendly, and informative and we appreciated being informed to pay visit to the beautiful river close by. We would definately like to come back and stay here whenever we get the chance to stay among the giant trees again...
It was very clean and conveniently located within walking distance to the few restaurants/bars in Redway and not far from Humboldt Redwoods State Park (which is spectacular!). The bed was comfortable even though we only used 1 of the 4. I would recommend going to the Woodsrose Cafe in Garberville for breakfast!
The property could benefit from better signage. We were delayed and arrived late at night and it was very dark and we couldn't quite tell if we were at the right place until we got close to the house. The only living room area is in the main bedroom which we felt was a little awkward, but no issue since it was the two of us. I would recommend turning one bedroom into a living room with a hide-a-bed so a large group has a hanging out place other than the dining room
